I don’t usually read NF, but I’m about to embark on a book about love languages. People talk about the five love languages so much that I’m curious. ?♀️
I love reading WWII survivor memoirs and memoirs by survivors of childhood abuse. If they live to tell their stories, I believe we have an obligation to read them.
Microhistory, history, art, architecture, and science (mostly history of science). Currently my non-fiction is a book for work so don’t judge — Correctional Facility Planning. Lol
I don’t usually read non fiction books but I stumbled upon The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks and it reads like fiction. It’s an amazing read with a deep meaning and incredible detail into not just Henriettas life but her entire family. Highly recommend.
I’ve been working through ‘Born a Crime’ by Trevor Noah lately. I like memoirs from contemporary celebrities I admire. And I also like expose-type stuff (Beneath the Surface by John Hargrove was a great example of this type for me).
I like to read a lot of memoirs. I also like books about books, “Nabokov’s favorite word is mauve ” is a cool one about word choice and literary habits authors across different decades have exhibited through software analysis, NOT as heavy a read as it sounds! Lol
I read about 50/50 fiction/nonfiction. I will read almost any kind of nonfiction as long as it is well-written and interesting. I don’t read self-help or “how to improve your productivity/business” type books though. I just finished this one yesterday and it is fantastic — but infuriating!
History and biography mostly. Currently reading ‘The Favourite’ by Ophelia Field, about Sarah Churchill. It’s the background to what the recent film covered.
I am currently reading several NF books. In the Closet of the Vatican: Power, Homosexuality, Hypocrisy. Also ‘Why Buddhism is True: The Science and Philosophy of Enlightenment’ and ‘The Invention of Nature: Alexander von Humboldt’s New World’.
I always have a non fiction on the go! pretty eclectic, I get inspiration from the goodreads non-fiction lists! Currently Rocket Men about the moon landings!
I usually read historical non-fiction, but maps are a big draw. Also, random topics. In my TBR right now is the Rise and Fall of Dinosaurs, Stoned (about gemstones), Plants, the “Of Note” books — i.e., Letters of Note, Lists of Note, Book Thieves, whatever appeals!
I read Girl Logic, really enjoyed it.
