Amazon gift cards. I will go shopping when the ruckus dies down. Family generally won’t buy books because they say I have too many. Probably right. Did contribute a bunch to a school; now down to 652 not counting kindle.

I got a gift card from Barnes & Nobles (Love the bookstore!) And I got the collected non-fiction of Joan Didion. First time I ever read something from her. I just finished two of her short essays: “On Writing Notebooks” and “On Self Respect.” I was missing out. Brilliant writer!

My wife gave me these books for Christmas. They’re both signed by Peter Beagle. The Last Unicorn has a cute doodle drawn by the author.

I can’t remember a Christmas when I did not get books! This year I got The Idiot by Dostoevsky and The Clockmaker’s Daughter by Kate Morton. I also got two 1000-piece jigsaw puzzles (which I also love) called I love Books and The Curious Bookstore). And I got a coffee mug which says “I am a book dragon, not a worm.” And a 2019 Reading Challenge!

I was given the Michelle Obama book for Christmas as well. My hubby got the Jackie Chan autobiography and I gave him the Martin Luther King autobiography so I’m keen to read those too.

I finally gave in and bought a Nook Tablet with Christmas, mostly for the sake of my eyesight. Regular print is getting harder to read, and it is getting for my painful hands to hold a book. I am really excited about this. Plus I will be able to afford more books this way!
