A lovely, lovely story; I always cry. It was made into a movie and shown on tv in the late 1970’s , early 80’s but I read that Mr Gallico never wanted it to be available on vhs/dvd. You might be able to watch it on youtube though. The movie is very very good too and faithful to the book.
Excellent book!
My English godmother read it to me as a child…

The Snow Goose! I had forgotten this book. I loved it and the dramatized version I had on LP starring Herbert Marshall.
I forgot all about it. Wonderful.
I Love Paul Gallico! My favorites are “The Love Of Seven Dolls,” and his cat stories!
Have you ever read The Abandoned? A great cat novel, but so sad!
yes I did! “When in doubt, wash!” His stories are so poignant. I love them.
So do I.
Loved it!
