I loved it. Read it when it first came out. Thought the outrage over it was completely blown out of proportion

Me, too. He even helped get a friend of mine into recovery, behind-the-scenes.

Loved it, read it a very long time ago. If you enjoy it, read My Friend Leonard by James Frey when you finish.

It’s been a while since I’ve read it, but I still remember how much I enjoyed it. Forget the notoriety. It’s a really good read, he’s a really good writer!

As long as you know it’s a novel and not a true story like the author originally claimed, enjoy.

I really enjoyed the first half and then it seemed to get repetitive and boring to me after that.

Gripping and unforgettable. The controversy had more to do with the marketing of the book as decided by the publisher.

I loved that book .. read it some time ago and it has stayed with me ever since … think about 12 years ago… can that be right ?….

Hard to put down. The controversy was that the author took liberties with the truth, yet called the book a memoir, which it was not. Oprah took him to the woodshed over it on TV.

I had read the book before that controversy broke, and thought it was excellent. I was disappointed to learn the truth, but still think the book was worth it. A shame that the author felt the need to lie or misrepresent…

It’s so good but it’s not a true memoir – it’s fiction

I liked it when I read it but if I had known beforehand that Frey is a liar, I wouldn’t have bothered.
