I loved it but I am a fan of FLW 🙂 I have visited both Taliesins and a bunch of his other houses and buildings. FLW determined most of the route during my 3 year road trip, if you’d like to see the pics I took, this is my travel blog: https://lifeat55mph.blogspot.com/

I enjoyed it a lot. Anxious to go see Taliesin in Spring Green, WI.

I read it and felt the same way, mostly because FLW was such a jerk!

He was a jerk toward women, unfaithful and uncaring.

And a jerk to those who worked for him, often not paying them for long periods of time. He was a design genius, but thought he was better than everyone else.

Keep at it, the plot twist hit me like a ton of bricks. I agree, the first 2/3 of the book were quite slow/dry, but I liked the writing. When I despise a character, I know the author has done their job, lol.

Maybe this is not the time for this novel for you. I really enjoyed this book because of what I learned about FLW. It may be different for you.

Worth finishing for the FLW history but I didn’t love it.

Parts were very slow, but overall I enjoyed it. And not having known what happened late in his life, the book was certainly eye-opening!

I absolutely loved the stories. After finishing the the book I moved on to The Women by T.C. Boyle to learn more about them.

One of my all time favorite books. FLW was a genius and a philanderer and a jerk, but the story is so compelling.

Gave it up at about that point

I couldn’t read it after his mistress (can’t remember her name) left her children for him.

I didn’t know what a jerk he was either, but still glad I read it. Then I read “Aviator’s Wife” by Melanie Benjamin, which I liked but Lindbergh was also a jerk! But still glad I read that also!!

2
Karen

Oh, and also read “The Paris Wife” by Paula McLain and Hemingway was equally a jerk!! I still learned a lot!

1
Diane

Lindberg was not a nice guy but I enoyed the book.

it was fine but not great. People in my book group refused to read it because he was such a person. LOL

Worth reading so I would say stick with it. The man was a genius but clearly he had mental issues.

Too many other books out there to waste time on one you aren’t enjoying.

I did not know how the story ended historically, so it was shocking and gripping. Perhaps if you already know the facts it’s not as powerful.
