It is one of my favorites. If you can get your hands on the DVD of it with Geraldine Page I highly recommend it too. That was my first discovery many, many years ago, and then I got the book. It is lovely.
I’m fortunate to have a lovely edition with a slipcase that my mother gave to me at least 40 years ago, and the other which has lovely illustrations that @Jackie mentioned.

One year my book club read it aloud to each other. We read a section and then passed it on the the next person. It was wonderful!
