I read one by Kathy Lamb. It had best friend in the title I believe. Ugh, I’m terrible at remembering the names. It was fiction. A romance writer moved back to Scotland after her family passed and reconnected with childhood friends.

Remember the TV series with Robert Carlyle? I loved that show when I was a teenager!

2

@Ellie Yes, I do. Although it seemed based more on the characters than Beaton’s story plots, I thought it was extremely well done. Again, I enjoyed the quirkiness of the characters and the television plot lines.

Rosamunde Pilcher is an English author. Her books are very much about the Scottish/English culture and countryside. Her stories are very family oriented as well. Try The Shell Seekers and September.

“Macbeth: A Novel” by: A. J. Hartley, David Hewson. If audiobooks are your thing I highly recommend the narration by Alan Cumming. But either way it’s such a great book, builds a lot of character and backstory around the play and is all around fantastic.
