Yes! BUT, be warned that the first 100 pages won’t really grip you and will have you struggling to keep going. Get through them and you will be gripped by an extremely powerful and emotive read that will stay with you for a long time afterwards.

Good advice! A book that stays with you for a long time. Harrowing, exhausting but brilliant book.

It is an excellent book, but very, VERY depressing. I am so glad that I read it, but I’m glad that I was in a good place personally when I read it.

One of the worst pieces of garbage I have ever read in my entire life.

I wrote this about it in the post below this one: I finished it but it made me rage. Hated it. The characters were awful and so god damn predictable. And the plot? Okay. Couldn’t be more unrealistic. All of them had that level of unprecedented success seemingly without even trying? Okay. And Jude. Ugh!! Never has there been a more irritating main character. I can appreciate a frustrating character when the intent is for them to be. But this is a guy I was supposed to have some empathy for? Get the fuck out of here.

I actually feel like I wasted a large chunk of my life reading it …. but I know loads of others loved it

A very unique book describing horrific abuse and subsequent lifelong behavioural issues; however it makes for quite heavy reading of depressing subject matters. If you are looking for book with a happy ending this is not it!

Great book until the last 100 pages when it completely degenerates into an unrelenting process of self flagellation, which is a great shame

NO!!! Don’t do it! Annoying self pitying characters and repetitive writing which, despite the heavy subject, leaves you empty and rolling your eyes… Oh here we go again, what’s he whining about this time….

No, too long, and don’t get me wrong I LOVE big books but this one , you can easily get rid of at least 200 pages, too repetitive, too depressing with no plot , just suffering, awful characters

I thought it was an achievement by the author. Made me realise that victim’s of child abuse don’t just ‘get over it’, even when they are surrounded by people who love them unconditionally. The scars are there for life.
