My biggest motivation currently is my 4 year old son. I want him to grow up to be an avid reader and I know he won’t unless he sees me reading.

It’s fun.

I don’t need to escape my reality anymore but exploring impossible worlds is just fun.

What motivates someone to play a game? Listen to music? Watch TV? Etc

Usually it’s simply Because they enjoy it.

I’ve just always loved reading. I think it stems from the fact that my mom read to me daily when I was little, and I’ve always associated it with memories of that.

It’s something I love, also living your best life. I get off track, get bogged down but when I see someone else(usually just a stranger just out in the world) doing something. I love that I get an internal need to be more focused on the things that bring me joy.

To escape the everyday, learn new things, experience cultures that I’ll never be able to visit (either real or fictional). I love a good emotional journey, to fall in love with a character, feel their pain and their joy.

Books have helped my depression no end. To be able to put my own life aside and take time out is so invaluable to me.

A break from reality. I’ve always loved reading. I taught myself to read before I started kindergarten but I’ve always love it. As I got older, more specifically when I became a teenager, reading helped me escape reality. I didn’t have the best childhood and books were kinda like my rabbit hole. Even now that I’m in a much better place, I just want to escape sometimes. The stress of school, drama, people, the pressure of anything and everything, the temptations, everything.

When I read every day I develop a habit which makes me want to read more and more every day without even thinking because sometimes when I don’t read in a while I get lazy and procrastinate reading so it is really hard to get myself into reading again. It makes me develop numerous habits, and grow as a person in other fields apart from reading. That is the biggest impact, but there are many more: learning interesting stuff, seeing other’s way of thinking and improving your own, escaping from the reality, being astonished by the author’s imagination. 🙂

if I like the story enough, then I almost get lost in the setting, characters, and storyline. And if I absolutely LOVE it, then its almost like a race to finish so I can talk to others about it, discuss ships, theories, headcanons, and all sorts of other stuff. I enjoy the feeling of understanding why what happened happened.
