My husband has only bought me one book in our 28 years of marriage…Men are from Mars Women are from Venus. ?♀️ It’s also the only book I’ve ever seen him read! ?
My husband takes me into a Christian bookstore and lets me loose for about 15 minutes to an hour. I know my budget and choose what I want. He does this on holidays and after a doctor appointment with my surgeon to make sure the cancer isn’t back.
I’ve never asked him to!! Picking out books is a totally personal/independent experience for me….unless I’m in the midst of a series I never specify a certain book. He will usually let me loose in Half Price Books for an hour (of course he is guaranteed pick of where to eat out that day!!) Christmas will usually be Amazon gift cards!
@Hannah there was only one time during Christmas when he actually picked out a book for me by himself and somehow managed to buy me the same exact book I was already currently reading ??♀️?? it’s safe to say after that he just stuck to the lists I had given him and I’ve ended up with a lot of Stephen King books ?
Anything by Lisa Scottoline. He reads audiobooks, and his tastes are usually different than mine. But he does listen to Lisa Scottoline books, which I enjoy — and he knows that. 🙂
3/4 of my books, my hubby has got me. He’s not a reader, BUT, he will listen to me talk about them, help me find them, and do his best to understand why i am bawling my eyes out because of a book. 🙂
My husband and I just had a bookstore date! I chose a book for him and he chose a book for me. It was fun. I heard about it on a Podcast “he read/she read”. He chose “The Witch of Willow Hall”. I’m about half-way thru — it is pretty good. I would give it a 3.5 out of 5 stars. Atmospheric for the Fall, which is good (for me anyway).
My boyfriend knows I’m obsessed with Shadowhunters. And my favorite character is Simon. He’s shopping and sees a Shadowhunter book with Simon in the cover (Tales from The Shadowhunter Academy) and thinks “She won’t have this obscure book! I’m getting it.” I had been rereading the Shadowhunters Chronicles and the next book to read was that one. I grab it off my shelf and start reading. My boyfriend looks over at me and says “I hate you” and takes my present out of its hiding place! ?
My husband loves romance books by Debbie Macomber, Sherryl Woods, Debbie Mason and Raeanne Thayne. He passes them to me when finished. Not my usual genre in the past but I am now catching up.❤️
My boyfriend just finished, In My Fathers House.. a book about a notoriously famous crime family..not a fan of crime novels but his recs are usually pretty good. He only reads crime or books about psychos lol..
None from the hubs, but my son has given me some great recs of things I would never have chosen. Favs we’re Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi, a graphic memoir about growing up in Iran. And Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance by Robert Persig, another memoir come to think about it. It’s so much better than it sounds; life lessons on a road trip with his son.
My husband used to pick all of them since I never could lol. I’d read him the synopsis of my top picks and he’d pick one.

Sally Field’s memoir In Pieces

Harry Potter
The North & The South
Several Stephen King books
You might want to check out Ted Dekker!!
@Laura I adore Ted Dekker! So good.
(back in 1992) An almost complete paperback collection of the Darkover anthologies. Every one she could find.
None.. ? My husband doesn’t read that much. The few books he reads are non-fiction which I don’t read.. ?
Has never happened. He gets me Barnes & Noble gift cards, instead. ?
@Dusti mine too!
Mine too!
Lily and the Octopus by Steven Rowley
The last book my husband picked out for me was What the Dog Knows: The Science and Wonder of Working Dogs by Cat Warren ?
No partner, ex didn’t read.

None. He never reads.
None. Unless you count the cookbook he got for me once ?
I got one too! Forgot about that. Lol
It was actually cool because he stumbled across a book signing and the author signed the book!
Don’t remember which one but one of Sue Grafton’s
In Jeapordy fashion…”What is something that has never happened?”
My hubby not a reader, but he often buys me books and he does a great job. Last book was The Tattooist of Auschwitz.
It’s always the other way around here! I keep him in books I think he will like!
Haha, no thanks! The non-fiction books he reads give me headaches 🙂
The Picture of Dorian Gray.
One of my favorite books!
None ??♀️ the only books my husband has gotten me are ones I specifically asked for.
^^^same

That’s too funny
My husband listens to audio books. His choices for us are usually short stories. He just chose the Bob Newhart audible Hi,Bob.
The Little Prince
A wonderful book

Oh… hubby WROTE a book, so it would be that one.
Hah, almost none. He reads what I suggest to him, though.
I’m listening to Ready Player One right now because my husband insisted.
My husband doesn’t read much but he did read Into the Wild and suggested I read it. It was great!
Well my ex….The Wheel of Time Series…I have almost all of him, that were his but they just dont seem like something I would like..maybe some day
I’m no longer married, but he’d choose a Time-Life book, How to Unclog Your Drains! ?
@Gail I’m very serious! ??
@Gail It was all about him!

What did you choose for him?
@Dusti a CJ Box book–Winterkill, I think was the name of it. I knew it was the next in the series for him.
Never will happen

The Eye of The World series
Probably a cook book for how to cook for someone with allergies, kind of like Out of Warranty by Haywood Smith but with recipes!
My husband doesn’t read AT ALL ?
I wish he’d pick a book for me!
Not only can my husband pick out awesome books for me, he buys me clothes that fit perfectly and look stunning! I am blessed!
My boyfriend just finished, In My Fathers House.. a book about a notoriously famous crime family..not a fan of crime novels but his recs are usually pretty good. He only reads crime or books about psychos lol..
Hahaha, he wouldn’t know what to select!
Mine might maybe would actually pick one I would read. He knows a few of the authors I do read.
My (ex) husband bought me a set of Jane Austen novels as he knew I liked them 🙂
Handmade tale.
Not a one. Nor do I want him to. I like to pick my own books. He would probably get me a Motor Manual! Or a computer program book…..
Pretty sure it would be poetry. Probably Whitman, Kinnell or maybe Rumi.
I just chose The President Is Missing for my hubby…..mostly ?
Hmm. Good question, but since my husband–the Prof–only reads academic tomes or sci-fi, not sure I’d want him choosing anything for me!
