Not sure how you even have yourself together enough to post this after that book. I’m afraid to read it because I’ve seen the movie and I sniffles for hours after and im sure the book is more descriptive
@Sian we do this book at school with 12 year olds…every year..it doesn’t improve with rereading. I find the structure too contrived ie the young boy is conveying information that the reader is expected to understand and he doesn’t because of his innocence.
Dear Susan Lopez far worse things happened, the book makes a death camp sound like disney world, there were no holes in the fences, anyone going near them was shot. There were no kids there either- they were killed as they could not be worked to death, mentally retarded kids like the German boy and his sister would have also been euthanzized pronto.
@Susan erm no. I get the message. It’s the contrived structure I had difficulty with. But then I work with children so perhaps it’s suited to that level but had I read it as a child I would have felt patronized

Loved that book
I am still trying to get out if that story!…. Very haunting indeed
Added to my wishlist
For once, an ending that blew me away.
I saw the movie, no way could I read the book, so so sad.
@Annette I felt the same way. There was just no way I could have made it through the book ???
@Celia last few pages are heartbreaking

You need to read “night” by Elie Wiesel
@Deborah will do for sure!… What it is about!?!?…
@Deborah ur recommendation ordered on Amazon!…
@Avinash it is his experience as a boy during the holocaust. It is gut wrenching. He passed not very long ago. Mr Wiesel was a beautiful soul.
Excellent recommendation! I agree! Night is a life changing read!
Such a heart wrenching story. ??
I’m reading now the boy at the top of the mountain for John Boyne and it’s heartbreaking
@Ghada I think it’s the same genre
@Avinash it’s about World War Two , one of my favorite topics though it’s tough
Will read it for sure!…. Thanks for recommendation ?
John Boyne has become one of my favorite
Wasn’t it good?? WOW!!! I just read Hearts Invisible Furies and it was fantastic as well.
It is a very badly researched book. One of the worst I have ever read.
Y? Because you dont think thi gs like that happened?

@Dympna you miss the true message

It is far better, the author is a real survivor, not just making big $$ without research like Boyne.
@Susan You appear to lack knowledge of the real Holocaust atrocities. This book makes it sound like a holiday camp, not a death camp.
A bit exaggerated in the end.
I saw the movie ?
I watched the movie it was one of those sad sac movies I will never watch it again and I will never read the book
I regret I watched the movie. So sad. Will not read the book.
DONT WATCH THE MOVIE.
ITS FREAKING HEARTBREAKING TO THE MAX
Seriously. I was depressed for a day!
Please how do I buy the book. I need to read it. I hope to get it around here
@Gabrielle u can get it on amazon
Thanks
The ending though 🙁
Honestly one of the verrrry few movies I thought was better than the book
The movie left me in a state of melancholy, and I vowed to never watch such a sad movie again.
i left the movie half way… i couldn’t bear such stress
