Looks interesting. Hadn’t known that Lisa See had a new book out. Liked her Snow Flower and the Secret Fan. Thank you for posting. Now I can look for it at my library. ?

Read it last week…pretty good. Has the feeling of a fairy tale in many ways. There is a lot of focus on superstition and tradition, and the overarching story of a little girl searching for her mother. Also interesting to read about tea culture and production. I’ve read that this book was well-researched.

I was very impressed at Lisa See’s speaking engagement with the amount of on site research she explained to us as she prepared to write this book!

She also put a lot of research into Snow Flower and the Secret Fan. I learned a lot about women’s roles and rituals reading that book.

I haven’t heard of this book before today, but this is the second post I’ve seen about it in the last two hours! A friend who is not in Silent Book Club posted that she has just finished it and enjoyed it. It was a recommendation from her daughter.

Did not love this book. Found the history of tea fascinating, but the story was too predictable. Big fan of Lisa See usually, my favorite is Snow Flower and the secret Fan
