It’s a picture book, but I have an extreme fondness for The Story of Holly and Ivy. For novels, I like Shepherds Abiding, from the Mitford series by Jan Karon

I love our kids’ books. We have a huge stack that we pack away with all our Christmas stuff and then set them up around the house in neat stacks to read with our decorations!
