Feist has a new series coming that’s not related to the others

Dragon prince. I can read it again and again and again ❤️

Oh, I loved the Dragon Prince. Until I got to the end of the first book in the second trilogy and you know what happens and I was emotionally destroyed forever. 😛

Sadly, none of Melanie Rawn’s other books ever really grabbed me.

hey I know what you mean that’s the clever style of her writing that you really are gutted when someone dies. I’ve read them so many times they are amazing.

This was a fabulous series. I loved it, but I felt the first book was much weaker than the others, and I tend to worry about recommending it – given how often I give up on first volumes myself. 🙂

I’ve tried and tried to read the first one and I just can’t do it. It’s like climbing Everest. You have to work so hard. There’s such a steep learning curve.

But so worth it

0
Mike

You know, people have said this, but I had zero trouble with it. I guess my mind is o.k. with not having the whole picture from the get go. I guess when a series starts you out in the middle of the story and expects you to roll with it… well I guess I just roll with it.

But, yes, it is sooooo worth it. Reading other series after Malazan is like… disappointing.

I tried the printed book, I tried the audiobook. I just could not get into it. It just takes a monumental effort. Felt the same way about The Lies of Locke Lamora – but when I finally did get over the hump, it was an amazingly good book.

I would say for a out half of the gardens of the moon I didn’t have a clue what was going on on but once I did……

The Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan

Wheel of Time because it is indescribably epic.
Valdemar… mostly because I’m fond of it; one of the first fantasy worlds I got into.
DragonLance, but only the books with Raistlin in them. And because – Raistlin.
Rose of the Prophet – a fantastic trilogy full of truly brilliant characters.
Books of Magic – OK, these are graphic novels and comic books, but they’re like Harry Potter for grownups… and far better than HP.

The Dark Tower series. I feel like it encompasses fantasy and sci-fi and even horror at times.

I tried so hard to read through the first one and couldn’t. ??

It really hits the good stuff in the second one. You meet the set of main characters joining Roland and get basically told the whole rest of the books that everyone will die while at the same time developing strong feelings for them.

1
Spencer

Agreed the first book isn’t great but it gets way better from there

0
Mike

Mistborn series – Brandon Sanderson
Tigana – Guy Gavriel Kay
The Demon Cycle – Peter V. Brett
Kingkiller Chronicles – Patrick Rothfuss (but I would prolly wait until the final book in the trilogy is released).

I could go on and on, but I will stop there. 🙂

What do you like about her stories, Edward? Is this all one series?

0
Edward

No there is a couple there. The one’s I like is the Marvin Manyshapes that lead into The True Game then the Jinian Footseer books.
They started off in a strange world where people have different abilities and different social class and a girl not willing to conform. The next series is about her son and his past being hidden from him and others. His rise from nothingness to being the strongest of them all.
The next series is about his other half’s investigations into the history of their world and their respective comming from Earth

To me it’s the best fantasy series I ever read…but to give you fair warning ⚠️ if you include all the short stories, novellas and novels by Steven Erikson & Ian C.Esslemont there are 32 stories associated with the Malazan series…so you have to be willing to make a full commitment to it but if you are interested in the reading order message me and I can send it to you….Enjoy ???

I Love The Malazan Series and it’s the best fantasy series I have ever read and I highly recommend it and this is a very well thought out and detailed storyline chronological reading order not a publication release order…
