I would say Stephen King, but the whole world knows him lol. Otherwise there is one I did read that was really disturbing. A Head Full of Ghosts by Paul Tremblay. I actually read it during a Readathon.
Wdn’t limit myself to one genre but now until Xmas is when I particularly enjoy reading spooky gothic novels. Am a huge fan of Susan Hill but my all time fav is the novella, The Turn Of The Screw by Henry James. Next on my reading list is The Corset by Laura Purcell.
@Rebecca I am reading a 1156 page book right now called IT by Stephen King (819 pages in). It may be about a creepy clown, but what’s scarier is what the clown does. And I don’t mean just feeding off of innocent kids.
But it’s not just a clown @Rebecca. It’s a creature in a form of what you deeply fear. It’s just often a clown because kids wouldn’t say no to candy and balloons.
Argh right I’m looking forward to reading IT but I’m scared at the same time as it will be my first horror book I read I tend to shy away from them because I’m a scared cat
Lol believe me it scared me well. The movie doesn’t scare me but the book does, because what you picture in your head based on the pages is as frightening as what is on the screen.
The book that affected me most in recent years was Don’t Look Back by Gregg Hurwitz. I have since read more of his and all are good.It is about a newly single mother who takes a vacation in the Mexican jungle. Makes me shiver just thinking about it.
That’s the plan! ?
I started one already ???
@Sammantha I have been thinking about this one
I read them all year
Not fond of “scary”, so NO would not read all month.
I’m in!!!
That’s all I read is horror lol. Valentine’s day? Yep. Christmas? Yep. Friday? Yep. All horror all the time.
Me too
Hey interesting thought ! 🙂
I need a good scary book. I like to get scared not grossed out
Reading this now, set in Salem, Mass. really good so far.
I probably won’t go “nothing but” but i will certainly read a witch book or two ??
I’m planning on it
If there is one kind of horror book that creeps me out the most, it’s demonic possession.
@Evan have you read the Exorcist?
Not yet. But I will during the month.
I think my “Booktober” reads are going to be The Exorcist, Rose Madder and The Witching Hour. ??
Booktober, I love that. ???
If it’s not a thing already it needs to be!
It is now.
I would probably get bored very soon.
Yes! Any suggestions?
I would say Stephen King, but the whole world knows him lol. Otherwise there is one I did read that was really disturbing. A Head Full of Ghosts by Paul Tremblay. I actually read it during a Readathon.
@Evan is a head full of ghosts any good, I really want to read that, it’s been on my T.R list for a while.
I gave it 3.5 out of 5 stars meaning I just liked it. It’s up to you if you want to. If it scared Stephen King maybe it’ll scare you too.
I love psycological thrillers so its always scary
I am gonna give it a try
I’m thinking about it. I have enough.
Ill do a few but not the whole month… I need something positive or humourous to balance it out
I’m planning on reading atleast a few spooky stories.
Absolutely! ????♂️???♂️
I’ve already started reading spooky books.? I have a whole stack ready for the rest of September/October.
Already started
If I could find ones that actually scare me
No interest in doing this
I will read a couple for sure.
Totally the game plan ! Only halloweeny books lol Gonna start with Hocus Pocus ?
Nope! No horror scary stuff here!
Yes

I’ve already started!
Yes, that’s all I’m trying to read this fall.
Yes
Is that a dare??? ?
Yes I’m doing that next year
I have been saving my Bentley little books for this October???
Yes
Yes. I already read IT a year ago and I loved the book and I saw the movie as well. There’s still more scary books I haven’t read.
Hmm! I think scary books would be easier for me to handle than scary movies! So, Yes
What you picture in your head is scarier than what is on the screen.
@Evan I agree! My head scares me! ?
I am not scared of Pennywise in the movie. In the book, I am.
I have bought a few to read but I think I am starting next week instead of waiting until Oct.
Totally! For those of you that have yet to read NOSFA2 it’s a must read for October?⚰????
I pretty much exclusively read horror anyway
Thats a good idea! But I think I need to read thankfuving themed books first since in Canada it comes first!
I’ve been wanting to read The Exorcist
Yes
That’s my plan ?
I plan on reading a lot of scary books in October
Yes
Now I’m gonna ask you all this: What scares you the most in a scary story?
I’m get scared easily so everything ?
@Rebecca I am reading a 1156 page book right now called IT by Stephen King (819 pages in). It may be about a creepy clown, but what’s scarier is what the clown does. And I don’t mean just feeding off of innocent kids.
@Evan I’m starting that on the 1st and I’m already pooping myself thinking about starting it I hate clowns as it is
But it’s not just a clown @Rebecca.
@Evan I didn’t like the movie because it was kinda meh so I’m hoping the book will be a lot better as they usually are x
The book that affected me most in recent years was Don’t Look Back by Gregg Hurwitz. I have since read more of his and all are good.It is about a newly single mother who takes a vacation in the Mexican jungle. Makes me shiver just thinking about it.
Nope
Yes!!. Got a couple of spooky reads ready to go
That’s what I’m planning on doing!
I read books about the holiday season – Halloween in October, Thanksgiving in November, and Christmas in December.
Yes!
Sure
Sounds fun
Oh that would be fun!!!!
No
Absolutely
Yes
Sure
Good idea!
If I had enough to read yes.
Nope. I couldn’t even finish Ira Levin’s Rosemary’s baby.
No problem
No
I would dare, but not that much horror in my tbr
90% of what i read are thrillers and horror. So.. yeah.
Not me. I don’t watch scary movies or read scary books.
I agree Evan no demons for.me
I used to do this, but very few books scare me.
