Harry Potter is amazing. Also, Where the Crawdads Sing. I mostly listen to audio these days due to work and kiddos and there were only a few that I didn’t care for the narrator.
I read “On Writing” by Stephen King, read by the man himself and it was awesome. As he was reading, he took on the personae of the characters with inflections and dialects. It was amazing. One book I absolutely hated on tape was “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo”. The person who was reading it was SOOO dry and boring that I almost fell asleep in the car.
The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller. Frazer Douglas is one of the best narrators I’ve heard. A narrator really makes or breaks the book for me. I can’t listen to one of my favorite series because the narration is just awful.
Circe, also by Madeline Miller, has a great narrator. I really like Will Wheaton and he narrates quite a few books- Ready Player One and Armada are two I’ve listened to. I’ve also been stalking particular narrators to see what other books they’ve read. Sometimes I get lucky and find another book or two I’d like to read.
Born a Crime by Trevor Noah, The Hate U Give (and basically anything else read by Bahni Turpin), Six of Crows, Crooked Kingdom, Big Little Lies, The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice & Virtue, The Good Lord Bird, The Mermaid & Mrs. Hancock, Spoonbenders, Howl’s Moving Castle, In Other Lands.
I also love to listen to classics on audio — some great ones are Jane Eyre read by Thandie Newton and Middlemarch read by Kate Reading. And Watership Down! That’s a classic to me anyway.
Anything read by Davina Porter. I first heard her narrating when I listened to the Outlander books. Now I listen to just about anything she narrates. She has very specific taste in books which, fortunately, matches my own, so now I often pick books just because she’s narrating them. She’s divine!!!
– “The end of the affair” by Graham Greene is one of my top favourites, partly because it was my very first audiobook, and partly because it was narrated by Colin Firth ❤ – Carl Sagan narrating his books is an awesome experience. You can actually feel his passion, and that is beautiful. – P.G. Wodehouse’s work is great for when you want something light and fun. English humor at its best! I prefer Cecil’s, and Spencer’s narrations. – Nabokov’s “Lolita” read by Jeremy irons. It’s twisted, I know, and I can’t explain why, but I love it ❤
Burial Rites, author Hannah Kent, read by Morven Christie. Morven Christie brings the protagonist Agnes to life, I read the book first but the audio was exceptional and made the story and interaction with the other characters more emotional.
Outlander series! The narrator does an amazing job!
Trevor Noah: Born a crime
11/22/63 by Stephen King and NOS4A2 by Joe Hill.

Can’t go wrong with one of the greatest of all time, narrated by none other than Jeremy Irons himself!

It’s not for everyone because of the way it’s told but I loved listening to “Room” by Emma Donoghue
@Kayleigh I actually think this would be best as an audiobook
A Tale for the Time Being read by the author Ruth Ozeki. An unusual and beautiful book.
