To me rereading my favorite books is a “hello good friend!” it’s possible that their lives changed while I wasn’t looking. ?

I read the other day that rewatching a favorite movie or show, or replaying a favorite song has a soothing effect, as one knows what is coming. The effect on the brain is similar to getting home after being out for too many hours. I’d like to think it must be something like that, we go back to our favorite books because they are our home. ?

It’s revisiting old friends and memories. Although there are some books I wish I could read for the first time-again.

It is easy and stress free re-reading old books. I can listen while I’m cooking, driving, or exercising. I don’t have to pay rapt attention to every detail. ❤️

I’ve never re-read a book but that’s awesome

@Ashley I find that absolutely unbelievable! I know some people don’t re-read books, but I fly through my favorites faster than new books because I can’t wait to get to my favorite parts!

I love re-reading? My yearly reading is always a mix of new reads and re-reads and I love seeing how my feelings about books change (or stay the same in the case of Harry Potter!) I love discovering new things in books I’ve already read too…like small hints from thrillers or mysteries that I missed on the first read.
