Exceptional viewing. Loved it. Great characters, plausible Christie-esq plot-line, good side stories, compelling TV. Proof that there’s life beyond Scandinavian Noir!
I’ve probably seen it dozens of times but I have a concussion-induced hole in my memory (stupid horses!) which sometimes removed entire things and episodes in my life 🙂
Oh yes, I so agree with you about Boredchurch 😉 All that slo-mo camera work made me want to throw things at the screen. And I honestly need subtitles for David Tennant. I could cope with his accent, if he would only open his mouth occasionally whilst speaking.
Yep I liked Broadchurch too. No problem with David Tennant, love his voice over on world wild life films! Incidentally, in spite of her terrific acting, I find Sarah Lancashire’s dialogue hard to hear, have to switch on the sub.titles. Though I think these flat screens aren’t the best for sound quality.
I never realise how much I rely on partial lip-reading until I can’t see lips moving. Hearing is only slightly below par but I really can’t grasp much of what he says.
I hear better when lip-reading…I’ve always said I can’t hear without my glasses on…but I think the sound is very poor on HD so I always watch/record the ordinary channel.
I thought the ending was pitch-perfect. I didn’t figure out the whole “Strangers on a Train” angle, but it all made for compelling viewing- and no, that was just something caught in my eye during Colin’s “pub” testimony. UK drama at its best.
Really enjoyed it
In my opinion it’s one of the better crime dramas?
great acting and storyline
I binge watched it yesterday; loved it!
Great loved the ending
Yes I enjoyed it.
I would have liked to see them enjoy their lives afterwards too….
Fantastic, better than the previous one
Yes, I thought that, too, and the first one was good 🙂
It was a really gripping plot loved it
Brilliant acting loved it
Loved it, had a whole different ending in my head tho.
Brilliant. Kept me guessing till halfway through the very last episode. More please.
Very good, great characterisation.
Loved it and the ending was right!
Brilliant and incredibly sad.
Loved it and I was in tears, great acting
Loved it. Brilliant on several levels ?
Loved it kept me guessing to the very end. Let’s have more drama like this
Very good. The ending was great too.
Brilliant – love the cast, love the pacing and love the story. Thought the ending was perfect. So hope there is a series three.
I’m sure I heard there will be one more series
Oh I do hope so!
Fingers crossed
Series Three is confirmed 🙂
It was excellent.
Loved it
Brilliant. Very touching and so very well acted. It was the right decision.
Loved it and so moved with the decision made at the end….. xx
Gripping story and a very satisfying ending. Felt moved and sympathetic to the terrible back stories of abuse.
Watched the first season which was very good. The second season has yet to come to Canada
Well worth waiting for 🙂
Brilliant. The ending was perfect. Looking forward to the next series.
Loved it, couldn’t wait for each episode xx
Loved it and the ending was perfect.
At first I got bored as I felt it dragged but last two episodes is where it really got going and I enjoyed it!!
Really enjoyed it. Some amazing acting.
Loved Series 1, and have ordered Season 2 which should be here soon.
Absolutely utterly superb. So so moving and and a perfect outcome. I feel quite emotionally drained still.
It was the ending I wanted. Brilliant series.
Exceptional viewing. Loved it. Great characters, plausible Christie-esq plot-line, good side stories, compelling TV. Proof that there’s life beyond Scandinavian Noir!
Reminiscent of Strangers on a Train. A really sensible, grown up series.
I kept thinking it was going to be like Murder on the Orient Express 🙂
Yes, justice was served.
Bruno was SO creepy.
I must watch it again because I can’t for the life of me remember anything about it!
I was just reading Amazon reviews on the book. Someone said ‘it’s a bit old-fashioned’. That might be because it was written in 1950 😉
It used to crop up on tv regularly.
I’ve probably seen it dozens of times but I have a concussion-induced hole in my memory (stupid horses!) which sometimes removed entire things and episodes in my life 🙂
I have one of those without the horse excuse. I explain that there’s only so much that I can quickly recall. Have to prioritise!
Loved it!
Thoroughly enjoyed it…..
I did…absolutely fantastic storyline with great acting.
Brilliant series. Much better than the over hyped “Broadchurch” series. Fine acting by all the cast.
Oh yes, I so agree with you about Boredchurch 😉 All that slo-mo camera work made me want to throw things at the screen. And I honestly need subtitles for David Tennant. I could cope with his accent, if he would only open his mouth occasionally whilst speaking.
Yes Broadchurch is very over hyped.
@Laura I keep trying it to see if I am missing something glaringly obvious. I’ve not found it yet, whatever it is.
Errm ? I liked Broadchurch ?
@Hilary We’re all different though. Vive la differeance 🙂
I liked Broadchurch too. Really looking forward to series 3.

My flatscreen telly sound is poor. I invested in a decent soundbar. Made a huge difference.
Yes @David thinking of doing the same. Our son has one and said it made a big difference.

@Hilary Yes, I really struggle when I take my glasses off.
I like Broadchurch too!
I’ve now discovered Line of Duty on DVD (hangs out Do Not Disturb sign) 😉
I discovered Line of Duty at series 2. Went back after and watched series one. Great show and cast. New series this year, can’t wait.
I thought the ending was pitch-perfect. I didn’t figure out the whole “Strangers on a Train” angle, but it all made for compelling viewing- and no, that was just something caught in my eye during Colin’s “pub” testimony. UK drama at its best.
Apparently Colin’s monologue was the very first scene they filmed. Impressive!
In a way I’m not surprised. It must have taken so much out of him.
