Me too, but every now and then I like a nice little smut, a quick read

Christine Feehan, Sherrylin Kenyon. Nowadays I feel they are a bit too much, slowly devolving into torture porn. So don’t read them anymore. Check out theirs early books…

I like a smut that still has some type of a plot line, I’m not so much into the ones that are just bad porn, I can just go online for that lol, def gonna check those out.

0
Munnu

Oh these have plot lines… They are series actually. Except that I find their current work pretty sickening. So don’t read them anymore.

Idk if Alice Clayton counts quite as smut but I love her books so much.

Ann Rice’s Sleeping Beauty series is decent. like 9 and Half Weeks, but really well written smut is hard to find.

Oh I have tried Sleeping Beauty, definitely NOT my definition of smut, honestly I thought that was just some disgusting weird s**t, couldn’t finish it

Tabitha

it’s more BDSM which is where my own taste leans towards. ummm there is some decent romantic novel writers that would definitely fall into smut-worthy Johanna Lindsey which is mostly historical ones.

Tabitha

i do also like Jayne Ann Krentz a lot. also Nora Roberts (i prefer her series over the standalone books) for modern day

0
Nathalie

@Tabitha then you need to look into red Phoenix author and Brie’s submission HOT! Then look into Ja Huss rook ronin series yum lol. Lastly my all time fav is M Never the first 3 in series then one about his best friend holy hot

I feel like I’m one of the only people who doesn’t enjoy even romance.. let alone erotica. I always see tons of recommendations in here so I wished I liked them.

It wasn’t until this year that I even began to try reading romance. I had to just keep trying. There is still a lot that I hate or wouldn’t read (most of the authors who have been listed here actually ?) but I have found a few to enjoy.

Kerri

I always hated romance until I found Colleen Hoover. Her books have so much more to it. Stories that are pretty deep and some are quite dark but with some new romance thrown in. It is a nice mix. I tried a different romance author after her and it was so cheesy it was terrible. Very typical.

1
Terri

There are very few authors in the romance genre I like. Hoover is definitely one.

1
Megan

Ooo I’ll check her out!

1
Clare

You’re not the only one. I’m not keen on romance etc in books!

I like Laura Blakley, l.h. Halloran, Jane Alton’s earlier stuff and Eric Morgan.

Roni Loren is really good. She ranges closer to erotica.

But if you prefer straight up genre Romance: Elizabeth Hoyt is super good. Also Stage Dive series by Kylie Scott. The Off-Campus series by Elle Kennedy.

I love the Off Campus series. Kristen Callihan has a series kinda similar……The Game On series. Her other series are good too! VIP series is good and Darkest London.

1
Randee

@Julie I also really liked the Game On series! And VIP, loved managed! I haven’t read darkest London though. I will have to check those out.

1
Julie

@Randee Darkest London is more paranormal/kinda London Steampunk. Another good series is How to Date a Douchebag series by Sara Ney.

Randee

@Julie I will have to check that out thank you for the recommendation. There’s a sports series I really liked Pairing Off by Elizabeth Harmon it’s about figure skating. I really liked the series!

I read romance, write romance, and on the rare chance I get to watch a movie, it’s rom-com or bust. ❤️ Anne Conley, SM Shade, and Hazel James are extraordinary.

Not sure what your definition of smutt is but Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover is a really good steamy, sexy romance. It has a great story/plot line mixed in. More than boy meets girl, girl falls in love.. Her books will keep you totally absorbed though. I don’t cook dinner or do much until I finish her stuff!

Try Anna Hackett. She writes SciFi romances that do get a bit steamy. Really good storyline too. My faves are her hell squad series and the Guardians series. Just started a new series of hers today.

I have several favorite writers: Cherise Sinclair, Reese Gabriel, M. Christian, Midori, Laura Antoniou, Alison Tyler, Pauline Reage, Morgan Hawke and N.T. Morley. The erotica books I read are BDSM ones that have a TPE relationship and are much, much daker and extreme than 50 Shades and the likes. I really like the books published by Pink Flamingo, since their books are definitely TPE ones.

But 50 shades is tame for smut and not BDSM *looks with puppy eyes* It’s just not.
But I will have to check out those Pink Flamingos ^^

0
Nancy

@Xilanne, as a collared submissive, I’m fully aware that 50 Shades is not BDSM. I’ve pissed off a lot of people online by coming down on the 50 Shades books. I know fully how tame the 50 Shades books are. My Dom was reading over my shoulder, laughing and shaking His head. I want to read erotica that makes me hot; not the kind that makes me roll my eyes at how ridiculous it is.

Kristen Ashley has a series you might like….. The Honey series.
