I thought it was a pretty obnoxious book…but it’s one that you’re “supposed” to read.

BrookeQuestion author

“supposed?” Why is that lol

0
Penny

I guess because it’s viewed as a classic. It does raise a lot of ethical and moral issues.

0
Alex

It’s required reading in a lot of high schools. I faked my way through and read chapter summaries my sophomore year of high school. About two years ago I finally read it all the way through and was really not impressed. It’s considered a classic

Is Dan Brown’ s origin worth the pri e? I bought it today but has some misgivings.

It is not my favorite of his writing, but it is an engrossing story. It is about artificial intelligence.

1
Valsa

@Lela which one is your favorite?I have read o only Davinci code.thank you.

I liked both Digital Fortress and Deception Point. Digital Fortress is about NSA and a code breaking super computer and Deception Point is about NASA discovering a meteorite with fossils.

I’ve been wanting to try Nora Roberts too but they don’t have any books here by her that I’ve seen and I can’t spend any money on books.

Brooke, Mary Higgins Clarks’s books are mysteries and are entertaining. I enjoy her. Danielle Steele is a little too “cheesy” for me Lots of drama, etc. The Great Gatsby is a “classic” due to its portrayal of the times and who Zelda and Scott Fitzgerald were. it is supposed to make you think.

I did! It was a great read. Made me sad

It qualifies as literature and not just an entertaining read. The books with real depth are not necessarily an easy read, so I guess it depends on what you’re looking for. If you have to watch the movie to get into it, do that, but then go back and read the actual book. It will stay with you the rest of your life.

I read it about 3 years ago and to be honest didn’t really enjoy it very much, as it is considered one of those books that you really should read I was disappointed! Then I went to see the film and have to say it changed the whole book for me! I understood more of what it was trying to say. ?

I had to read it for school, so I didn’t enjoy it. I just didn’t care for the characters or the writing style. And plus it was for school so it was difficult to enjoy it. Although I loved the Odyssey, Much Ado About Nothing and the Scarlett Pimpernel. But I just didn’t care for the Great Gatsby. That and To Kill A Mockingbird.

Me! Hated it in school…hated being told to say what I thought the green light/billboard/etc. meant, and then told that my interpretation of it was wrong…and then I decided to reread it before watching both movie adaptations, and I loved it.

My theory of the timing of books says that there is a right time in your life for most books, and if you try to force it, it usually doesn’t work out well. Dip into it, see how it goes; if it doesn’t, put it aside for another day.

Excatly, I tend to reread books I read in school and enjoy them when I am not forced to overanalyze and take 6 weeks to read a book that takes a day to resd
