It was very true to the books. It wasn’t “Oscar worthy” but not horrible.

Loads of hype about the book.
Read much better books to be honest..

I started it but put it down for a while and haven’t got round to picking it back up. I don’t like either of the main characters so far, although I’ve been told they become more likeable so I do plan to persevere at some point

Didn’t do it for me. I persevered to the end but then wondered why I’d wasted valuable reading time…..

I found book 1 unputdownable (not a real word I’m sure but the only ne I could think of lol). As for the following 2 they don’t pull me in as much. The TV, which covers book one, series was good but a lot different to the book itself as they usually are.

Reply, I found that as well. ?book one – read it really quickly, now on to book two but reading it more slowly, I’m enjoying it though

Reanne

They are all good books in their own ways. It’s just that book one was more gripping and I had to find out what was going to happen next, I even used a recipe book stand to be able to read whilst cooking lol. Whereas the others I enjoyed but plodded my way through and didn’t feel as compelled to keep going.

@Jennifer I started it last night- I’m only like 15 pages in because I was pretty tired but I wanted to at least start it!

1
Jennifer

@Samantha I’m working to finish 2 other books today and tomorrow so I probably won’t pick it back up until this weekend- it’s a good book but a slower read for me. We could PM and chat and make a reading plan if you like- no pressure. ?

I think the book itself is a good concept that’s been poorly executed. There are a lot of interesting ideas brought up throughout the series, but none of them really seem to pay off completely. I did get into the show first, and it’s hard to say why, exactly, but I think by cutting massive sections of the “let’s go for coffee/let’s go for yoga” humdrumness, and by adding in the backstories and goings-on of the other characters, it built a much more believable world than the book did.
