I have my sets all together but it is quite honestly a case of “if they fit, they sit” I did try to get some kind of order once but it didn’t work and after more than 4 hours of rearranging, I gave up and put them wherever I could. They were quite happy where they were ?

What’s this

0
Gary

When I was a young, it was the standard system all American Public Libraries used. When I started my own library at home I followed the same system.

I have my fiction categorized by author, then I have a non-fiction section with a separate section for Kennedy books and another section for World War II and holocaust books.

I have my favourite books first, which are fantasy books and a sci-fi series, and then I have the other fantasy books, after that he sci-fi ones, the dystopian ones, the horror and hard ones and romantic ones. I also have a shelf on my table where I placed the books I haven’t read yet.

At home – no / at work – yes. I manage a children’s Bookmobile and I rearranged the collection to have everything grouped by themes to make it easier for teachers.

I am not sure what you mean by categorized by subject. I have a few shelves dedicated to Classic Literature, two shelves for historical fiction, one shelf for Holocaust Literature (both fiction and non-fiction), a shelf for history books, and another shelf for mystery/favourites/mis. My bookshelves are so crammed now, that I have everything everywhere at the moment. ?

You like Holocaust lit too? What is your favourite?

@Carol It’s difficult to really say which one is my favourite. It’s easier for the fiction than the non-fiction because the topic. My favourite for the fiction would be Schindler’s List. I mean, I know that the book is inspired by true events, but it is a fictional retelling of the man. It was that book that inspired the movie, and I fell in love with both the movie and the book. It is so haunting, but you know it is based off of true events because when you read books written by survivors or especially the ‘Schindler’s Jews’, you can see the reality of the book come to life. However, I label Schindler’s List as fiction because it is a fictional retelling of the man himself.

I enjoyed that one too! I enjoy survivors stories.. I recently read Edith Eger’s story ( I think it was on offer for kindle), and she really stayed with me ?

I do – actually – when I get my own place I will make a bookshelf.
