I was really hesitant. I couldn’t imagine liking a book about building a church. But holy smokes it was fascinating, riveting, surprising and incredibly enthralling.

I absolutely loved this book, not my usual genre at all. World Without End, is excellent as well.

I’m on chapter ten and I’m not sure either. It’s dragging a bit.

It’s so good. I think those initial pages are startling to read because they depict the brutality of the time. But I feel like it’s just so accurate and well researched that you fall into the past and live alongside those characters. Love Ken Follett.

Yes I just finished the brutality birthing part and has to take a breather. Thanks for the encouragement I will continue!

I read it after the Fall of Giants trilogy. It was very educational – not riviting, but nothing Follett has written (that I have read) is.

Loved it! I remember watching Oprah when she read it and she talked about how she would stay up until 1 and 2 in the morning reading this book, but then she purposely slowed down because she wasn’t ready for it to end. I felt he same way.
I loved reading about the detail of the churches, the rich characters. Truly one of my favorites.
