The first one was ok, but by the second I hated the protagonist so much. Only read the first two books.

Hated it. Felt like it had a lot of potential but was badly written.
I also felt like the author was stringing me along but had no intention of following through on certain plot lines.
I sometimes wonder what the series would have been like if it was written by someone else and feel the series has been over promoted. ?‍♀️

@Essie I don’t think it was bad written but it confuses you sometimes!! I didn’t hate the first book, I actually loved it! Also the novella was nice too. So, now I’m reading book 2 and see what will happen next! But if you tell me about bad writing I will tell you Twilight saga was worse series ever written on history of literature

Starts out really promising and never lives up to the promise. Sad really that the story peters out the way it does.

Hated…it’s one of those books that you rooting for the villains and wish the MC ‘s would die. Mare was ok in book one…after that her character evolved in an unlikable one…Cal was dull AF. Evangeline was my heroine and Maven my hero…everyone else sucked. I have all of the books except for War Storm which I got the kindle edition and planned on buying the actual book later on cuz the covers are gorgeous…I couldn’t justify wasting more money into this series after that ending.

@Jessie i think Cal and Maven are like Thor and Loki! Always a Shadow of brother’s flame! Cal is the body and Maven is mind the same as Thor is body and Loki is mind

Jessie

yeah…I felt like that as well.

The houses are like Harry Potter’s houses.
Powers like Divergent!
If you noticed these things! Also you can feel some little bit of Katniss’s personality in Mare’s

1
Jessie

and I disliked Katniss? but not to the same degree as Mare…you’d understand the frustration if you read the whole thing…if they have a Maven and Evangeline spin off I will totally be down to read that…other than that I am done with the series.

*spoiler alert for those who didn’t read it* this is between me and Jessie
You know Maven doesn’t like Evangeline! I don’t see any spark these two have! I was reading some fanwiki to understand the characters better! There is a lot of Sexuality in it! Like Evangeline with some girl! Is that true? In the book Maven talked about Thomas and in fanwiki he loved Thomas!! And Cal & Maven’s grandpa Tiberies V was in love with Prince Robert! (I read it in Queen Song)

Jessie

@Levi yes…apparently that’s part of why she is so cutthroat…because she is just a pawn to her parents who know about her feelings and relationship. I forgot the characters name but she is her brother’s wife and its sort of an agreement he made so that Evangeline could have her lover close. He also had his heart set with somebody else…so he was perfectly fine with keeping with the appearance .
Maven on the other hand has no potential to love…at some point he did love his father and brother but his mom extracted that from him…so even his obsession with Mare is a corrupted version of what he thinks it is to love. And his relationship with Thomas was also tainted because of the fact that his mom made him forget how to love…Cal was searching for someone who might be able to fix the damage but in the last book they say it is irreversible.

Jessie James Mishell damn that viper! She is worse woman! I mean Elara! So cruel to manipulate her own son for her goals! So Cal won’t be with Mare

1
Jessie

@Levi yes…so..spoiler….last book they make it look like Maven is killed but they don’t actually set the scene…its kind of assumed it happened so…some people think there is a chance he is still alive. Idk…the book did end kind of open ended where a spin off is possible

@Jessie so maybe she is writing book 5
Seriously the more she writes it the more she makes her readers not to enjoy it

Hated. Barely finished book one and I have no desire to finish the rest. I feel like I’ve read the same book hundreds of times before.

It was meh… I couldn’t stand the protagonist at all! But the antagonist made me want to finish the series. Let’s just say I won’t be reading them again.
