My all-time favourite detective has to be Rex Stout’s NERO WOLFE. Every one of his books is a joy to read. I loved Peter Robinson’s earlier DCI Banks books. Television ruined it for me with the wrong actor in the role. My third choice is David Ashton’s Inspector McLevy.
