You’re welcome. Anyone crime fan grabbing a collection of books from the writers I’ve mentioned couldn’t surely be disappointed. ?

1
Carla

I also realise that there are stacks of newer writers mentioned above that I need to start checking out. I wish there were more hours in a day. I’ll get there, if not later than everyone else. ?

1
Carla

Certainly can’t beat a fast paced psychological thriller. ?

0
KA

Thanks so much Carla! Much appreciated. And you’ll get there faster than me! I’m so slow at reading currently it’s unbelievable. There definitely needs to be another 3-4 hours in a day that should be listed as dedicated reading time! X

Robert Goddard – sort of old school – beautiful prose – hard to put in an exact genre and even though crimes are invariably part of the plot, he’s a tricky writer to genre-fy – but if you like a story with twist after twist and a writing style that’s effortless and elegant, you won’t go far wrong with Goddard.

I call them “onion books” – layer after layer of intrigue.

1
John

Great name for them – could be a whole new genre!

I love Goddard too – as you say beautiful prose and every one is so different.

I would recommend Rex Stout to anybody who loves a well-written detective story. He invented the grossly overweight gourmet who is an expert orchid grower, Nero Wolfe. Just read one novel or novella and you are forever hooked. Available from Amazon.
