Are his books as hard to read as people keep saying ?

I don’t think so, the best thing would be to just try one and see how you go! Some are better than others so try one mentioned in these comments first!

I got it ? The book it lol x

You’ll only be able to answer that question when you try one of his books. It will all depend on whether the voice draws you in.

I have only read The Shining and I enjoyed it but found it a bit long winded in places. He describes things very in depth but he has been called the master of description!

0
Mark

Not at all. One of his recent ones, that I really enjoyed (it’s a ghost-story/mystery) is Joyland, which is fairly short and briskly written.

1
DeNise

Some of his books are hard to get through while others are easy reads. The Stand was the first book I read from him. I am now reading, End of Watch. I’ve read Many, many of his books in between. But like someone said before, he does describe things in depth. He is one of my favorite.

Go for Mr Mercedes – it’s his first crime novel and there are three of them!

I’d star with Different Seasons – it’s 3 short novels and a short story (3 of them made into major movies) These are easy to get into. Then, as others have said, Misery, Carrie, the Shining, IT, before moving into bigger works, The Stand, Mr Mercedes Trilogy etc. There are few poor King books.

11.22.63, i CANNOT say it enough, 11.22.63. The Mr. Mercedes series was great as well (listened to all 3 while walking outside this spring/summer). But again, 11.22.63, i cannot say enough good things about this book or recommend it to enough people. OMG i just loved it that much! (I also liked Misery when I read it in high school, Under the Dome I found to awful)

All really it may be a good idea to start with early stuff like Carrie,Salem’s Lot and Cujo just to get a grip on style and character building .My personal faves are It,Insomnia and all Gunslinger books. If it is possible to get The Green Mile as originally published it is a joy.

My favourites are pet sematary, the Green mile and misery. This post might find me the answer to a question I’ve pondered on since I read it. I’m talking about the book The Girl who loved Tom Gordon. Please can someone explain the story of outline of characters. All I could gleen from it was a boy was being chased through a forest by a bear??!! Once he gets through he sits and has a meaningful conversation with?! WHO? OK guys have a good laugh between you and think who is this woman ? but you must admit I’ve got a darn good Imagination and all I want is the bloomin answer! I never know I might not be the only one ???
