I liked The 13th Child by Patricia Wrede. Think little house on the prairie meets Harry potter. It is also the first in a trilogy.

That’s certainly one of my favorites.. cannot believe that series isn’t at least as popular as ‘the Hungergames’ and ‘Divergent’.

1
Airion

@Dorine Hold onto your hat, because it’s just been announced as a movie, with Daisy Ridley and Tom Holland. So I think it’s about to get a lot more popular!

0
Dorine

I think justice is being done.. even if it took them 10 years..
Part of the problem I guess is that the translation is really difficult..
The Dutch version has a big city accent which does not suit the wilderness entourage.

The Daughter of Smoke & Bone by Laini Taylor. It’s a trilogy

My kids librarian choose it for her.. I had picked another one and reacted unfairly (!!) skeptical..
Let me see it, I told her. After 2 hours she asked.. ‘mom, if you still like me to do my home work.. you really need to let go of that book..’
