Ready Player One. It is not my typical genre (I mainly read historical fiction) but was just so good. I listened to it on Audible read by Will Wheaton with my 11 year old son and it just came alive. One of our favorites of all time.

Ready Player One is a great book. So clever how all those 80s details are worked in.

Sandra

@Eri YES! I’m an 80’s kid so it was really nostalgic for me and then to be able to share that with my son. It was a great book but the experience of reading it with my son and having him love it as much as I did definitely contributed to making it a favorite.

Water For Elephants.
I love the time it’s set in, a little romance but not too mushy, I LOVE elephants. I couldn’t put it down. That book made me laugh out out, cry, and I yelled “f*** yeah!” pretty loud a few times. Especially the ending ??
Not many books can make me feel like that. Definitely one of my favorites. Will be re reading that again for sure

I’m reading it now. The Outsider by Stephen King. It is a murder mystery with police work (forensics, detection, etc) with the classic Stephen King touch.

A Man Called Ove. I struggled to get through the first few chapters. I asked myself “Self, why are you reading about this grouch?” But then through his recollections I began to like this very unlikable guy and I started rooting for him. By the end I could hardly read the words through tears. Highly recommend !

Bare Faced Messiah: The True Story of L. Ron Hubbard.
The author did an excellent job of presenting the facts, based on public records and actual interviews, and putting them against the published lies put out there by Mr. Hubbard and Scientology. I’m fascinated by cults, and this was a great way to see how one man was able to manipulate all those around him. Definitely worth the read.

Super Powereds by Drew Hayes. It’s amazing. I can’t say enough good things. It’s a 4 book series that’s like Harry Potter in college with super heroes instead of wizards. It’s more mature, with more humor, more drinking, and a lot of heart.
