I read it for the first time in 8th grade, lil me was definitely not prepared, but when I re-read it was an adult it was definitely a lot harder to digest
Of Mice and Men by Steinbeck and The Emperor of Portugallia by Lagerlöf. I tried to reread the latter one, but knowing how it ended made me start crying on the first page so I gave up, might try again sometime though.
I’m going to cheat here and name a fairy tale instead. The Little Match Girl. The first time I had it read to me I cried. The second time I read it as an an adult I cried. The latest time I read it to my children I cried. Just thinking about it I feel like crying. I sobbed noisily each time. So very Sad!
When I was younger, I would read books written by Lurlene Mcdaniel… (Its been awhile so I hope I got her last name right lol) …those books would make me cry…
