Pens, tissues, nothing too weird. I did happen to use the former owner’s purchase receipt of the used book i was reading. It had stayed with the book for 11 years. Whoever bought it purchased it at the airport obviously for their flight.

My roommate in college, famous for losing things, would lend me books with her debit card as a book mark ??‍♀️
I’ve used any object close by in a pinch, from my full water glass propping it open to falling asleep on top of my book! All this since my dad had a pet peeve about books resting face down with the pages spread on a surface. He would come back and close any book left this way, fanning out the pages so you couldn’t even find it by the crease in the spine ?

My father did the same thing. He said if I couldn’t find my place, I wasn’t reading it very well.

Deborah

I love it! Pretty frustrating in the moment though ?

Being raised Catholic, I used to use the “Holy Cards, that were available at the back of the Church as you left. Since I haven’t set foot in one for years, I don’t know if they still have them.

@Sierra agreed. Although, those aged- yellowed pages already are strangely fragrant. Love chamomile’s mellow, earthly fumes as well.

You mention that the Qtip was clean. But you don’t say that the toilet paper was clean. Yikes! Please don’t mark your page with used toilet paper if you borrow my books or borrow books from my library! ?

No. He was resting on the table next to my chair I had to get up to get something so I put the book on the table and use his tail at a bookmark til I got back. The cat was very cooperative
