Agreed ? I bought it when I was in 8th grade because I love the musical so much and was determined to own/know all things Wicked, but the book is weird lol I never finished it
I haven’t attempted to read many weird books, so I’d have to say The Vegetarian. It was just so freaking bizarre. I liked the first part but the second and third part just felt so uncomfortable and weird and out of place.
That new Disney Twisted Tales book, Reflections is up there. It’s Mulan, but in a bizarre underworld with an inconsistent and confusing magic system. Picture a Greek mythology/Mulan crossover fanfiction It was one of those this is terrible and I can’t look away moments. I still don’t know what I read.
The No. 2 Feline Detective Agency. I thought it was about cats that helped humans solve mysteries. Nope. It’s about cats who live like humans who solve mysteries. They wear clothes, drive cars, pay rent… The lead cat wasn’t even that clever. She started her own PI business but she was always completely off base & her assistant that she paid by way of giving her a place to live actually solved everything for her. There’s a hippie cat who sells the best catnip ever… It’s becoming a series apparently, but I was done after the first one.
The second and third books in the Wrinkle in Time series were beyond my capacity for weirdness. I love the first book but did not enjoy the subsequent books at all, and never attempted the 4th.
Flatland ! so so so different (free on kindle btw). But if you mean weird like horror, then House of Leaves, or weird like “wtf-is-going-on?-my-mind-is-blown” kinda weird well then Annihilation. or weird as in why does this even exist ; Hot Pterodactyle Boyfriend (you are welcome for this last gem)
I know Flatland! I didn’t read it (all), but I was an art major, and on our first day of class, my 2D teacher gave us all a chapter of Flatland to read. My roommate was in my class. By the end of the ONE chapter, we just looked at each other and said, “What the actual hell did I just read?!” ???
Ahahahah yes I can totaly see that ! I read a bit of context outside of the book so I could understand the meaning between squares and cubes (like squares are labor class etc.) and it was a lot easier to read with that in mind ! Honestly I had a lot of fun reading this !
That Hideous Strength by C. S. Lewis. The first two of the series were interesting and then I felt like the third went a little off the rails. And it was longer than the first two combined. It was strange.

Agreed ? I bought it when I was in 8th grade because I love the musical so much and was determined to own/know all things Wicked, but the book is weird lol I never finished it

I just finished this the other night. So many conflicting feelings!
I am still reading it .. taking it in small doses
I really wish they would have given you a heads up about what it’s really about
@Madison right?? The description is a very loose interpretation of the book.
@Cynthia it took me a week to get through because I kept having to put it down to take a breather
@Jada it really is! It sounds like a wonderful book from the description
@Madison I loved the writing, it was absolutely beautiful. But the subject matter made it so difficult to read.
I adored this book!
@Jada agreed.
While the subject matter was uncomfortable at times, her writing was excellent. Great book.
@Jennifer it was written very well, and the story line in summary is wonderful. But I just can’t get over what the book was really about
I haven’t attempted to read many weird books, so I’d have to say The Vegetarian. It was just so freaking bizarre. I liked the first part but the second and third part just felt so uncomfortable and weird and out of place.

My Eyes Are Black Holes by Logan Ryan Smith
It is a tie between Lolita and American Psycho for me.
Also The Accident Season
Gloria O’brien’s History of the Future
Moll Flanders. The story itself isn’t weird. It’s the fact that the book isn’t divided into chapters at all that I find weird.

Stupidest book in existance
Not sure about “way out there” weird, however the book “Lord of the Flies” (I read it in 10th grade – required reading) hit me as …. odd …. back then.
House of Leaves! I’ve been working on it for a few years, I keep having to take breaks from it. It’s bizarro and I love it.

There’s a hippie cat who sells the best catnip ever…
It’s becoming a series apparently, but I was done after the first one.
The shack. I’m sorry, I tried to be one of the billions that loved it but…no. Just no. Weirdo book.
Same! I just couldn’t get into whatever people found so awesome. I tried.
A Wrinkle in Time. I know lots of people like it but it was weird. So weird.
I really loved A Wrinkle in Time but I did not like the 2nd and 3rd books at all. They were even weirder.
I am odd , so Nada!
The second and third books in the Wrinkle in Time series were beyond my capacity for weirdness. I love the first book but did not enjoy the subsequent books at all, and never attempted the 4th.
A Swiftly Tilting Planet and An Acceptable Time are my favorites in the series.
Mister B Gone by Clive Barker but I love weird lol
Lolita
Right now, trying to read How To Be Human…it’s not working for me…
Flatland ! so so so different (free on kindle btw). But if you mean weird like horror, then House of Leaves, or weird like “wtf-is-going-on?-my-mind-is-blown” kinda weird well then Annihilation. or weird as in why does this even exist ; Hot Pterodactyle Boyfriend (you are welcome for this last gem)

The Virgin Suicides. I DNF’ed it about 40 pages from the end because I just couldn’t do it anymore.
The blue door
That Hideous Strength by C. S. Lewis. The first two of the series were interesting and then I felt like the third went a little off the rails. And it was longer than the first two combined. It was strange.
Ulysses takes the biscuit for weirdest read, content and style wise
IT and insomnia by Stephen king tbh
