The Stand…By Stephen King. You’ll never think of the common cold or the flu the same way again.
I second The Stand, or really anything by Stephen King. Salem’s Lots scared me sleepless for weeks (of course I was in high school at the time, but still). King knows how to get into your head.
Salem’s Lot was an under appreciated King novel.
That was the other King book I read besides Carrie. Perhaps #2 on my list.
Desperation by Stephen King was pretty dang scary
