What’s Eating Gilbert Grape had me laughing in a lot of scenes. The book blew the movie away.

Sedaris journeys from his home in England to his shared beach front property, the Sea Section, in the eastern US. I happened to get the audio version to listen to on a plane and found listening rather than reading a boost to the enjoyment. I take a renewed interest in my FitBit since he hilariously refers to various forays that are guided by the fitness tracker’s commands. Much is said in relationship to family and partner in a serious yet comic, laugh-at-yourself way. I think this is one of his best yet.
