I thought it was worth. It helped that I was able to make payments and my mom payed some on it as my Christmas gift. I love it. Love the turnpage buttons. Love that I can disable the touchscreen. I don’t think paperwhite allows that. Love that it’s waterproof. It’s easy to hold with one hand.
I like the touch screen as well but I like being able to disable the touch screen while I’m reading. The oasis is super light as well. I looked at the paperwhite before i decided on the oasis. Different ones fit different people. A couple of months ago I wasn’t even sure a kindle was for me cuz I hadn’t had one in years. I’m so glad I decided to get one.
It has up to 32 gb and is waterproof. That’s the main difference. For people like me, the paper white would not have enough storage space. Oasis would + some
The oasis is smaller (about the size of compact disc) and comes with a case that has a built in battery. Mine stays charged for 2-4 weeks depending on how much I use it. Plus the new oasis is supposed to be waterproof. But the paperwhite is cheaper.
The Oasis is waterproof, has a bigger screen, side buttons. The side buttons are only on one side, but you can just turn it upside down and the orientation of the text changes, so you can use them with either hand. I love it for reading in bed, because I just use one hand and never get a tired arm. The Paperwhite is still great, though, in case you’re on a budget.
The Oasis cover works as an additional charge so the batter life on an Oasis is weeks – maybe even a month versus a much shorter time on Paperwhite. I read mine daily and voraciously and I love it.
I love my paperwhite… I’ve had it for at least 3 years maybe four… If mine ever dies I’m going for another paperwhite… The battery life on my paperwhite is awesome.. Last 2 weeks or more depending on how much I use the light.. Which is all the time.. If I remembered to turn it off when I don’t need it, it would probably last 3 weeks or more.. The paperwhite is also the perfect size in my opinion.. Look at the differences between the two and ask yourself will I really benefit from it being waterproof.. Do you listen to audio books often.. Things like that.. It will help you make a decision..
Exactly how I judged too. It had no benefit being waterproof for me, I am not the type to read near water… Same for listening to audiobook, I prefer using my phone anyway, much handier to multitask!
I wish Amazon would not have named the newest ereader “New oasis”…It’s too confusing for buyers. Some reviews here are the older oasis and some are the new oasis.
I have a 5 year old paperwhite which is great but I love my new oasis even more. I love the larger screen and buttons. If you want something smaller the paperwhite is still a great ereader. It’s pretty much how much you want to spend.
The biggest difference, now, is that the oasis has up to 32 gb of storage and its water proof. For me, the storage is the only reason I’ll be getting it at some point. I use a ton of storage because I get a lot of the cheap ebooks. I have already used close to 3gb of storage and that’s all the paperwhite has for now. Most people will never exceed 3gb (2000 books). I also have no desire to keep unread books on my cloud storage so oasis it is. Voyage has 8gb.
I don’t currently have a paperwhite so I am uncertain. I have a 10 inch fire HD and want a e-ink reader because I’m going to start working and don’t need to carry around something as large as my fire.
I was wondering the same thing
Oasis is more expensive, it’s waterproof, it I believe is closer to an actual tablet where paper white is purely a reading device.
Nothing like a tablet. It’s for reading only.
Oh and listening to audiobooks
@Jessica that sounds like a huge price then personally for just a reader. Wow I thought it did more. Well to each their own!

@Jessica i prefer touch screen and I find mine super light. It’s perfect for me! But I’m happy you love yours

@Jessica I really debated it because I have a iPad mini, glad I changed my mind!
I think I’ll grab one, since they do monthly payments.

@Jenna I have the 32gb. I love it.

Oasis has a bigger size? Or maybe the new one does
The new one is bigger
@Jessica I thought so :)0
Paperwhite has more letters ???
Sorry, sometimes I crack myself up.
Kindle oasis got it last week its fab xxx
This is the paperwhite
How do you like it?
I love mine. I bought mine off eBay with case for 100. It’s worth the money.
I love my paper white, Amazon always has it on sale for 100
Love love love my oasis
Is it similar to the voyager?
I’m not sure ?
@Jessica, just looked, I need an oasis.
They do Payments. ?
@Jessica, I saw that. Next month. As my hubs just got me a new iPad Pro.
A couple hundred bucks.
I had one but I swapped it for a Voyage, which I love. The new Oasis is waterproof, if I had money to burn I’d probably buy another one.
The new oasis is awesome. From the reviews I seen on the 2016 I wouldn’t have gotten one of those. So glad they came out the new one in 2017.
What’s the difference between the voyage and oasis, I’m getting one or the other soon, but hadn’t heard of the oasis.

That might help
Johnna whetstone when I was deciding which to get I watched YouTube videos about each of the devices. I ended up going with the new oasis.

This is the 2016. The 2017 does not have the battery in the case.

Does the paperwhite have the thing where you can disable the touch screen? I know my oasis does. But wasn’t sure about the paperwhite
I don’t currently have a paperwhite so I am uncertain. I have a 10 inch fire HD and want a e-ink reader because I’m going to start working and don’t need to carry around something as large as my fire.
I don’t know about paperwhite but Oasis was a mediocre 90s band.
