This may be an unpopular opinion, but I think my favorite is the Me Before You series. Not so much the first two, but the third one (Still Me) is fantastic!
The Proud Breed by Celeste de Blasis. She’s gone now but if you can find a copy of the book read it. You won’t be sorry
