Personally, instrumental. Anything without words. If the book I’m reading has a specific cultural inspiration (such as Empress Dowager Cixi, Peony, Journey to the West all being Chinese) I try to listen to instrumental music from that culture.

I forgot that I can just send a link for the playlist I made. The first few are just regular classical music, but there’s tons of other stuff. You’re bound to find something you like I’m sure https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLiqd4VZMO-lWNHk7nzTfgA2uF01hNHMog

I can’t. Envy those who can. I need quiet to read. I can cut out conversation etc, but not music.

I find that any music distracts me from my reading, as my brain starts to focus on the music over my book.

I’m the opposite. I cannot stand the dead silence, my mind will start to wander and I’ll end up thinking about what I’m having for dinner next week.

None. How can you concentrate on what you’re reading when there’s some “singer” blasting noises into your brain?

I can’t listen to music and read anymore but I can have ‘rain sounds’ on which I use as white noise to block out noise interfering with my reading. Or my husband’s snoring???

I’d say none, but if you must…. Go with light classical, no pop songs with lyrics, lyrics will distract you

pretty much anything that’s instrumental, I prefer classical, but songs with lyrics being sung are too distracting for me.

I can’t do that. If I read I read, if I listen to the music I listen. I get too invested to do both.

Though I read without music, Mozart and Beethoven would go great.
