Sophie’s Choice! Not only did I cry, I went into my sleeping daughter”s room, she was four at the the time, at one in the morning and held her close as I cried. OMG. I will never forget that. And when I went to see the movie with my mother and sister, I cried the first time I saw Sophie’s sadness. They kept asking me why I was crying. Since I had read the book, I answered, ” You’ll see why.”

Two that spring to mind are “Goodnight Mister Tom” which I first read when I was 13 and “Angela’s Ashes”. Both made me ugly cry.

Also, Henry’s Sister’s by Cathy Lamb. I started reading it late one night. Really boring start. I wanted to give up but I didn’t want to get out of my warm, comfy bed to get another book so I kept reading. Ended up really liking it. Funny and sad.

The boys Triumph over Adversity by Sir Martin Gilbert. A true account of the 732 youths that survived the Holocaust and came to Great Britain after the War. They wanted to bring 1000 youths but could only Find 732 of which only 60 were girls. Amazing stories of young teenagers and how they survived, just a miracle.
