0
Tiffany

Oh hell what did I get myself into

0
Nikol

@Tiffany you’ll love every second and reread it at least a hundred times ? also a guarantee

0
Tiffany

I don’t think I can reread it to many times maybe one or two. I can barely do that with Harry Potter and it’s my favorite book

0
Nikol

@Tiffany it’s that good ? the second one I mean

0
Tiffany

Well if I can get pass this book in less then a month (I’m a slow reader and work midnights and a mom of an autistic child and normal). Then I will be impressed and go buy the other book and look you up and let you know which ever works lol

The Upside of Unrequited by Becky Albertalli

1
Reply
Tiffany

What’s this about and is it a YA book?

1
Heather

It is a YA book! This is the snyopsis on Goodreads:

“Seventeen-year-old Molly Peskin-Suso knows all about unrequited love. No matter how many times her twin sister, Cassie, tells her to woman up, Molly can’t stomach the idea of rejection. So she’s careful. Fat girls always have to be careful.

Then a cute new girl enters Cassie’s orbit, and for the first time ever, Molly’s cynical twin is a lovesick mess. Meanwhile, Molly’s totally not dying of loneliness—except for the part where she is. Luckily, Cassie’s new girlfriend comes with a cute hipster-boy sidekick. If Molly can win him over, she’ll get her first kiss and she’ll get her twin back.

There’s only one problem: Molly’s coworker, Reid. He’s a chubby Tolkien superfan with a season pass to the Ren Faire, and there’s absolutely no way Molly could fall for him.

Right?”

I’m really enjoying it so far. The story has been really cute and I’m loving all the diverse representation. It’s a companion novel to Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda. They are both stand alone books but happen in the same universe.

0
Tiffany

This is definitely going on my list. I’m usually at b&n or bam once or twice a week and never seen this

1
Heather

It just came out yesterday! It’s one of the only books I HAD to buy for myself versus getting it from the library. I also recommend Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda by the same author if you haven’t read it. ?

I have not but I went on my Goodreads and saved both of them

The Sword of Shannara… its “ok” but it’s got some of those things authors do when they have to drive the storyline by characters being unconscionably stupid and overlooking things that would cause a 4 year old to scratch their head…

2
Reply

I’m reading the lying game series, on the last book and really annoyed with the way the main character hones in on one murder suspect at the beginning of each book and believes it completely the whole book and then at the end they’re revealed to be innocent and the next book she just moves on to someone else. It’s a really predictable pattern and I’m just glad I’m on the last book so I can find out if it’s the person I have suspected since the beginning.

The new trend to kill off characters may work well for Martin 😉 , but it doesn’t mean every author should kill one of his best characters to stay in trend 🙂 (I think). And, as far as I could guess, the planned hero for the next book may be far less original and (for me) far less interesting than the previous two.
