A lot of Stephen King books of mine fit that category. Maybe that’s because it usually takes a while to finish it so I first pick up a book that reads a little quicker. At the same time I love Stephen King’s work ?

Iron and Magic by Ilona Andrews. It’s set in the same world as her Kate Daniels series, which I love, and I always love whatever of their books I read. However, it’s a spin off and I’m hesitant because of that.

Six of Crows and Caraval. They are so hyped

@Gunnel I loved Six of Crows. Caraval was okay but I have little desire to read anymore in that series.

Gunnel

@Kristy I will read them both. Because of the hype both have been translated which will make it easier

0
Kristy

@Gunnel good. I understand about not wanting to read overly hyped books. I tend to do the same usually.

0
Gunnel

@Kristy Yeah it’s keeping me off and I look for other books people haven’t heard off

Kasey

Caraval disappointed me, Legendary has me eager for Finale though

0
Kristy

@Gunnel me, too!

0
Brittney

@Kasey agreed I wasn’t as invested in Caraval but Legendary was so much better! I think it was because over and over everyone kept saying it’s just a game so it didn’t have a real climatic feel to it.

@Gunnel I am also in the camp of meh for Caraval, and loved Legendary! I also adore Six of Crows. I love broken characters.

Gunnel

@LR I’m so curious on both books but I’m scared I won’t like then

@Gunnel SoC reminds me a lot of The Smoke Theives, lots of points of view and everything comes together beautifully

Gunnel

@LR ooh! Now I wanna read it lol. Maybe a November read 😀

@Natasha I recently started this and listened to the first hour or so on audio, I really really liked it! I’m going to finish it as soon as I finish my Libby holds.

Natasha

@LR it’s so long that I keep worrying about letting my team down if I read it but I need to get to it before end of the year ?

0
LRQuestion author

@Natasha I got the audio for that exact reason. Lainy Taylor can be extremely long winded and has beautiful prose, but I’m not super into that style of book. I listened to her Daughter of Smoke and Bone series on audio and definitely had the reader sped way tf up. BUT I did enjoy that series. I find that if I sit and let myself stew too long with an overly detailed book, the odds are higher I’ll put it down and read something else. Does this ramble make sense? ??

0
Natasha

@LR yes completely I had a similar problem with the second A Discovery Of Witches Book it was good all of the detail but really hard to get through too, I’ll have to keep an eye out for some audio books, I use my library app so they don’t have everything but audible is silly price here unfortunately ?

Mine is Wintersong, and The Valient! They both sound fantastic but I just can’t seem to fit them into my life! I’ve got to get on that!

Carry On, Gemina, Children of Boood and Bone, Furyborn, Conjuring of Light, Name of the Wind, Diabolic, The Power, and anything by Steven King. Yeah…you can see my problem now lol! It sucks cuz all these books I’ve been waiting for are coming out and pushing the need to read everything further down the list.

To all my fans…with love…from Sylvia. I think that’s the title. The first longest book I ever read. It was back in 7th grade…many moons ago.

ALL OF THEM!

But, for reals, I want to do a complete read of all RA Salvatore’s stuff. And King. And finally finish Wheel of Time.

I second a reread of Salvatore! It’s been way too long since I’ve read his books.

@Stacy he just came out with a new prequel to the Drizzt story! I bought it… And that’s that.
