Encyclopedias were the only way to research and write book reports when I was a young girl. We’re talking the ’70’s. My favorite childhood book series was the Little House on the Prairie.

With each age I turned I loved different authors, I loved the Bobsey Twins by Laura Lee Hope, then of course, Beverly Cleary, Judy Blume. Also loved the All of a Kind Family series by Sydney Taylor as well as Betsy, Tacy and Tib by Maud Hart Lovelace. But I also had a favorite book by Betty Brock called No Flying in the House.

Little Women, The Cherry Ames series, and another favorite was a real 3 hankie book called Beautiful Joe about a mistreated dog. OMG I cried til I had no tears left. Another book I loved was called Nobody’s Girl about a french orphan. I think I must have cried my way through childhood.

EB books were great. Loved them. Also ready Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys. All the Beezus and Ramona books and Freckle Juice and How to Eat Fried Worms. Also, Sweet Valley High books. Spent so many summers at the library when I was a kid.

Yes, and it was fun to read as a kid. There was another author I read and I thought I had her name correct but I have not been able to locate her books. They were about children living in different life situations. One was about a girl whose family were migrant strawberry workers, a girl who lived in Florida and was maybe a member of the Seminole nation. Her name was Lois Lowery or Louise Lowery. I am not sure.

Where the wild things are. I was obsessed. Still over of my favs. I got the novel when the movie came out. Enjoyed that too. I don’t have the novel anymore. As I gave it to a friend.

Oh I loved Encyclopedia Brown!!! I read every one I could get my hands on. As an adult, I default to mysteries in series: The Cat Who… The In Death series by JD Robb… Robert Parker books with Spencer… the Alphabet books by Grafton… great memory! 🙂
