I would say paperback if it’s going in a carry on bag. Will make it lighter for you to carry. If it’s going in suitcase go hardcover so they will be more protected.
Paperbacks are easier to pack and weigh less. I’m going on vacay in a few days and am frantically finishing up the hardcover book I’m reading so I can bring a paperback (or 2) ?.
