Three words: sparkly vegetarian vampires. There are so many other better vampire story lines out there. If you want something really good, watch Moonlight.
I personally love them I read them back to back three times. my coworkers really enjoyed them too but there’s people who couldn’t stand the books so I guess it’s 50-50.
I liked them. I still love them because they were the books that made me fall in love with reading. I would read when I was a child, but when I was 12 it made me love it, love it. Anyway, I think the movies are meh and the books are way better.
I like twilight. I am almost finished reading and watching the saga. I just have to start reading Breaking Dawn and then watch the movie and I’ve read and see them all
I love the books. The movies were rubbish. My main issue was Bella. In the books, in the first person, her moods and feelings are explained. In the movies, well…. she tried!
I loved the Twilight books. I would eagerly await for each book. Did not know until I finished the first book that it was classified as a YA book. Not that it mattered to me. I was Team Edward…just sayin’.
@M. both. I refuse to watch the movies because I couldn’t get through book 2. I read what I did so I could talk to my siblings about them. I felt like I was eating mud
I loved them, they were a teenage girls dream as far as books go. The movies were so-so, but I’ve never seen a movie I thought was better than the book it originated from.
I liked the books except the last one, mainly because the end is super-crappy. Movies were OK but couldn’t get hooked to them. Maybe because I knew the end wouldn’t be worth it.
like with most cases when it goes from book to movie you loose alot of the details so to me the books were great and the movies were a flop also really dont like the lead actress think she the main reason it was a flop for me
They were a fun read. I was Team Edward then lol. Loved the movies too. They’re not well written and not at all classics by any standards but they had a massive appeal. A simple clumsy girl’s life turned upside down by this sexiest handsomest vampire who has 18th century values ready to die for that girl is alot of girl’s best romantic fantasy. To top it all two sexiest guys one a vampire the other a werewolf with all kinds of powers fighting over you is the cherry on top. It was a fun fantasy to read and dream for however long it lasted?. I don’t limit myself to certain genres only and love reading all kinds of books but understand they’re not everyone’s cup of tea. Remember they’re Teen Adult books so target reader’s group was teenagers and who didn’t love reading teenage romances in their teens. This series crossed that audience and ended up being appreciated by a huge number of adults too including me. Enjoyed reading them.
I honestly havent read or watched them. I refuse to. Im not a chic flick type of person and the whole thing with them fighting over her just turns me off. They just arent my type of thing. Im a huge HP fan and my other type of favorites are murder mystery so im happy eith them.
Me too, until i saw Twilight on Netflix one day. I was bored, so I wanted to know why, ‘all the fuss’ and discovered i loved the movie, bought books, and it inspired me to get back to writing after 20 years out.
The actors I felt didn’t have as much chemistry as what I imagined from the books.. especially Edward. But loved the books regardless of majority opinion
Vampires are supposed to be scary. They are supposed to invoke a wonderful dark horror in story telling. Many people made vampires pretty in movies and books and twilight is ment for young adults and it just broke everyone that loves the horror genre. Sparkling vampires was the last straw.
I personally loved the books but I think the people who didn’t read them and just saw the movies only got half the story and only saw sparkly vampires and a love story
I haven’t read the books but I’ve seen the films. They aren’t the best films in the world but they aren’t the worst either. I think after the initial buzz, the backlash meant it became a thing to hate it. Luckily I don’t care what other people think so it never bothered me.
I enjoyed the books, got through them all in two weeks. That’s a record for me as I have dyslexia. Loved the movie too. I don’t particularly like the sparkle vampires part, but it’s a typical teen romance. It brought me back to my cheesy teenage days. The book was geared towards the YA so, yeah some may not have liked it, or couldn’t finish it, but not everyone likes everything. If that were the case, what a boring world this would be. The series did wake my dormant muse, after a 20 year hiatus from the death of my grandmother. And for that, I have Stephanie Meyers to thank.
I couldn’t say, never read that series myself. I think the negativity comes from dislike for the actors perhaps? Not sure how closely the movies match the books. Seems like a good story!
I thought the series was ok, it could have had a lot more depth but it works for its audience. The film’s didn’t do justice I suppose and again catered for its intended audience so I guess people expected more ?
I like them except for the creepy imprinting parts and the baby growing too fast. They get really far out as they go on. Really like the actors in the movies. I do not care what others negatively think. Different strokes for different folks. Seems people love something at first and hate the same thing later.
I read the books. At the time they were coming out, I had tweens and teens so we read them together and then also saw the movies together. We all liked them.
I loved the books. I was a huge fan and tried telling everyone about it but got ignored until it became famous. Then something that was “my thing” became “everyone’s thing” and it was annoying. I think the people who hate it only saw the movies and didn’t read the books. I still enjoyed the movies but they left out a lot. Those who say the sparkly vampire thing ruined horror are way too dramatic. Its FICTION! And young adult! Go read something else then. Sheesh.
The movies weren’t as good as the books in my opinion. Books give you such freedom to imagine everything and Stephanie Meyer did a good job of describing everything. Though Robert Pattison is extremely attractive he wasnt my idea of Edward at least looks wise. Though he did a good job playing the part. Anyway when has a movie ever really been as good as rmthe book?
I love the books very much, they inspired me to write. But the movies weren’t great. Not true to the main ideas of the books at all. I love the cast, though. :))
Like a teenager finiding his ideal mate in A TODDLER. Or even worse A NEWBORN which conveniently is going to be (at least biologically) adult in less than a decade…
I loved the movies and books! I must confess, that I was very judgmental at first when everyone was talking about them and only read them couple of years later, when there was no one fussing about them as much…
It wasn’t about falling in love it was about him being her protector. Also I don’t know you and don’t really believe that I need to defend my book choices to you….I’ve had a shitty enough day today so I will move on. Thank you
The books are plainly badly written (which is strange seeing as the author has a BA in English) dream of an overworked and underappreciated mother of three young sons. They try to sell various forms of abusive relationships as the GREATEST LOVE STORY OF ALL TIMES.
Which ending? Both in the books and movies the gigantów confrontation turned out to be just a Vision. Because god forbid actual harm happening to Meyers avatar or her completely dream!daughter.
Yes I know, it was a vision. Probably because Meyer didn’t want any harm done to her fictional self. Because that was who Bella Swan was. An idealized version of Stephenie Meyer. Though frankly… it’s at the bottom of the list of things that are problematic about this series.
There so much to the story in the books than in the movies
I really liked the books.. the movies were okay, just kinda.. dorky, lol
Three words: sparkly vegetarian vampires. There are so many other better vampire story lines out there. If you want something really good, watch Moonlight.

@Nancy haha…I watched the movies and I like Edward too
Me too. I didn’t know it was YA at first either.
I liked them
@Chris do u hate both the movies and the books?
@M. both. I refuse to watch the movies because I couldn’t get through book 2. I read what I did so I could talk to my siblings about them. I felt like I was eating mud
??
I loved them, they were a teenage girls dream as far as books go. The movies were so-so, but I’ve never seen a movie I thought was better than the book it originated from.
@MiChelle I agree with the last part.
Books were much better.
books are rubbish and the films are a joke they picked the worse possible actors they could find
@Sarah oh even books r rubbish? ?
The books were great to me
I read them all. I watched the first movie.
It’s been a while, I forgot if I liked them or not.
Like books and movies
I think its because its not like yur tipical vampire movie. It lost a lot from the book to the movie. I liked the books better
I loved them!
I mean, some of the teen stuff got a bit sappy buuut, its a teen trilogy soo.. Lol
Funny bit, i’m a HUUUGE potter fan & didn’t feel like that at all with those.. Idk.
Twilight kicks butt though ?
#TeamEdward
I liked the books except the last one, mainly because the end is super-crappy. Movies were OK but couldn’t get hooked to them. Maybe because I knew the end wouldn’t be worth it.
I enjoyed both

I really enjoyed them.
Books great, movies awful.
I like both but the books are better for me as I prefer books to movies ?
I ❤ both..movies and books
I love both my daughter is called Rosalie after watching the saga on my maternity leave
They were a fun read. I was Team Edward then lol. Loved the movies too. They’re not well written and not at all classics by any standards but they had a massive appeal. Team Charlie all the way ?
Team Jacob here!?
I Love them both.
I enjoyed the read!!! They were a great story, an unexpected telling!
I liked both
Hated it all plot sucked in both book and movie
Heres my answer…TOP SHELF ?
(Have all the movies too ?)
I honestly havent read or watched them. I refuse to. Im not a chic flick type of person and the whole thing with them fighting over her just turns me off. They just arent my type of thing. Im a huge HP fan and my other type of favorites are murder mystery so im happy eith them.

I enjoyed both x
I need a thumbs down on this one.
Never read the books but loved the first film. Didn’t follow the rest.
I loved these books
Liked both.. But the books are better
I loved the books and loved the films.
The actors I felt didn’t have as much chemistry as what I imagined from the books.. especially Edward. But loved the books regardless of majority opinion

I still love them. I love the film Eclipse but I’m not much of a fan of the book, although Breaking Dawn was amazing.
I’m more of a vampire type of girl, but I think the history of the wolves/shape shifters is much more interesting and well fleshed out.
I loved the series
I personally loved the books but I think the people who didn’t read them and just saw the movies only got half the story and only saw sparkly vampires and a love story
@Macheala ohh maybe that’s why most people r hating the movies
I agree @Macheala
I agree.
Good analysis.
Good series
I LOVED both
Love the series!!!
I haven’t read the books but I’ve seen the films. They aren’t the best films in the world but they aren’t the worst either. I think after the initial buzz, the backlash meant it became a thing to hate it. Luckily I don’t care what other people think so it never bothered me.
Bella is a winny character. She’s doesn’t do much either.
I enjoyed the books, got through them all in two weeks. That’s a record for me as I have dyslexia. Loved the movie too. I liked the books, not so much the movies.
I thought the series was ok, it could have had a lot more depth but it works for its audience. The film’s didn’t do justice I suppose and again catered for its intended audience so I guess people expected more ?
I want to read them at sometime
I like them except for the creepy imprinting parts and the baby growing too fast. They get really far out as they go on. Really like the actors in the movies. I do not care what others negatively think. Different strokes for different folks. Seems people love something at first and hate the same thing later.
I love the books! I think the reason they’re hated is because they’re cliche but I love them. The movies are also poorly done
I read the books. At the time they were coming out, I had tweens and teens so we read them together and then also saw the movies together. We all liked them.
I’m not a fan anymore.
I loved both!!
I only saw the first movie but I thought it was a lot better than the book.
I love the books and the last four movies.
I love the books very much, they inspired me to write. But the movies weren’t great. Not true to the main ideas of the books at all. I love the cast, though. :))
Love the books x
I love both also, but the books give the details.
Like a teenager finiding his ideal mate in A TODDLER. Or even worse A NEWBORN which conveniently is going to be (at least biologically) adult in less than a decade…
I like a good story…form your own opinion
call me old school but vamps should burn in sunlight not sparkle but apart from that they are good lol
and werewolf transformation HURTS AND ISN’T VOLUNTARY.
I loved both the books and movies.
I loved the movies and books! I must confess, that I was very judgmental at first when everyone was talking about them and only read them couple of years later, when there was no one fussing about them as much…
Love everything about both
Grown men falling in love with their ideal mate when they are TODDLER/NEWBORN (no matter how freaklishly fast they grow up ) too?
It wasn’t about falling in love it was about him being her protector. Also I don’t know you and don’t really believe that I need to defend my book choices to you….I’ve had a shitty enough day today so I will move on. Thank you
Maybe still…i think that Meyer should have thought it better. And I was thinking of Quill and Claire what is Quill supposed to protect her from?
I love them? Those books are where i found my love for reading.
I loved both the books and movies. Each movie that scratched I ran off to the store to buy a new one
Haters gonna hate.
I really enjoyed both the movies and the books.
The books are great.
Never read the books or saw the movies
Books are amaaazzzing. Worth it. Diff than movies
The books are plainly badly written (which is strange seeing as the author has a BA in English) dream of an overworked and underappreciated mother of three young sons. They try to sell various forms of abusive relationships as the GREATEST LOVE STORY OF ALL TIMES.
love books.
Loved the books…..but as Hollywood goes they left out alot of detail s. And those are what makes a book great.
I didn’t like the ending in the movie. The book was much better.
I agree
Which ending? Both in the books and movies the gigantów confrontation turned out to be just a Vision. Because god forbid actual harm happening to Meyers avatar or her completely dream!daughter.
@Agnieszka The war in the movie didn’t happen
Yes I know, it was a vision. Probably because Meyer didn’t want any harm done to her fictional self. Because that was who Bella Swan was. An idealized version of Stephenie Meyer. Though frankly… it’s at the bottom of the list of things that are problematic about this series.
Loved the books the movies were ok
Yes on books
BAD ACTING ???
i have read only the 1st book…it wasn’t the worst one of the many books i have read, but also not the best…just mediocre…my opinion
Only read part one of the series , found it rather slow and at some points down right boring . Didn’t see the movies
PERSONALLY I ENJOYED THEM AND I USUALLY DO NOT READ THOSE KIND OF BOOKS.
LOVED THE MOVIES TOO.
