The Stand was always my favorite Stephen King book. What do I think of King? I think his earlier works are his best – what he puts out now I wont read as I thought Dr. Sleep was lame. I did just finish his book IT and it really soured me on him as he was relentless in his description of the overweight kid in the book and his bonding experience with all the friends was absolutely revolting. That and his tweeting have totally turned me off on reading his books.
@Patricia I don’t know that he is overrated as his early work was really good. I personally wished he had retired before putting out some of his later work.
I have a few and I think he is a flawed human and downright likeable because of it. After reading his On Writing and about his life it really makes you better understand the man, not perfectly but better haha but this is coming from a budding author who would love to have even a third of his writing talent.
I really like everything written by him!! He definitely isn’t for everyone as he likes to go deep into detail which causes many to stop reading his work. It makes me dive right in like I was there in his stories. So you’ll only know if you like him if you read his stuff and decide for yourself.
I do like his books but yeah sometimes i get bored when he describes things too much, I found that happened a lot in Salems lot even tho I still liked it.
I liked The Body, I really haven’t read that much from him 1408 was good, to be honest he’s OK but I really don’t buy in to all the hype about him being so awesome, I think some of his older stuff is better but that’s just my opinion.
He terrifies me, so I’ve only read 11/22/63 and Hearts of Atlantis because I was told they weren’t scary. I tried The Stand but it was wayyyy too long and not holding my attention.
@Rachel, I read it a long time ago, probably when it first came out, lol, so I don’t remember if it was rough going at first. I do remember that it kept me up all night, though. Needful Things is another of my favorites of his. Happy reading! ?
The stand! Amazing book! I own most of his books and read them but I do find he babbles on sometimes randomly which can be bit off putting but I do enjoy his work
I haven’t read a ton of his work, but I loved Misery. I enjoy his writing. However, the amount of typos I’m finding in Pet Sematary, is outrageous. I’m loving this book as well, but omg. These are things that should’ve been caught and fixed.
I’ve read ” Mercedes Killer” and like many of his other novels , the premise is dark and disturbing. This may be a turn-off for others , but I absolutely adore the horror genre! Right now, I’m trying to work my way through ” IT”, the novel is quite length, but I’ll finish eventually ?
I have several favorite books of his! Carrie, Firestarter, Misery, Christine, The Green Mile.
The stand is by far my favorite though!

Do you think he’s over rated ?
@Patricia I don’t know that he is overrated as his early work was really good. I personally wished he had retired before putting out some of his later work.
I agree, Patty.
Tweeting?? Stephen King….*struggles with word*…. tweets???

Aside from the dark tower as a complete work, I think my favorite King novel is Insomnia or possibly Duma Key
Have u seen the movie yet? ?
@Patricia I did, I watched it on opening night.
I felt like the project changed hands too often and lost some of the cohesion. I really wish King had a hand in writing the script ?
I like Needful Things and Hearts in Atlantis
Needful Things was my favourite too.
It. I love SK and I have a lot of his books. He suffered from a lot of anxiety and I can relate
And what do u guys think of joe hill? (I didn’t even know he was Stephen Kings son until recently lol)
NOS4A2 is a classic!! Reminds me of his dad a lot in this one.
Honestly I think Joe Hill has all the talent of his father plus some. He is the superior writer in my opinion.
@Elissa When I was reading NOS4A2 all I could think was this is like Stephen King if his writing was perfected.
I love Carrie, Revival, It and Full Dark, No Stars. His new books aren’t really my thing.
Salem’s Lot is my favorite hands down!
DOTT/The Wastelands or The Talisman
Actually its not his horror that is my favorite its Rita Hayworth and the Sawshank redemption love the movie too
I liked The Body, I really haven’t read that much from him 1408 was good, to be honest he’s OK but I really don’t buy in to all the hype about him being so awesome, I think some of his older stuff is better but that’s just my opinion.

Oh and I did love his On Writing – not scary at all 🙂
I’ve only read a few but I really liked 2 of them: Carrie and Salem’s Lot. I couldn’t finish Cujo. I didn’t care for it.
The only thing I’ve read by him is Tommy Knockers but I really enjoyed it…idk why I don’t read more!
Black house,Dolores Clairborne,The tommy knockers,4past midnight,Bag of bones,Doctor sleep …..
Carrie and a Buicks life
You mean From a Buick 8?
I like Misery the best! His stories are hard for me to get into sometimes, but I think he’s a great author. Lots of people love all of his work.
Salem’s Lot was the scariest for me. The Stand is my favorite. I like SK a LOT; he would be a blast to have coffee with!
How long did it take you to get into Salem’s Lot? I’m reading it but having a hard time getting into it.
@Rachel, I read it a long time ago, probably when it first came out, lol, so I don’t remember if it was rough going at first. I do remember that it kept me up all night, though. Needful Things is another of my favorites of his. Happy reading! ?
Cell is a fantastic read
One of my favorite authors. One of my favorite books by him is The Shining.
I’ve read most of his books and enjoyed them. 11/22/63 is amazing and one of my all time favorites ever.
The Shining
The stand! Amazing book! I own most of his books and read them but I do find he babbles on sometimes randomly which can be bit off putting but I do enjoy his work
The Shining.
People are so different in thier likes & dislikes, l don’t read him at all.
I don’t either. I read one King book, It, while in college (1988) and that was it (no pun intended.) Thought I was the only one who didn’t read him.
A story he wrote under the pseudo name Richard Bachman called Rage.
Insomnia & The Shawshank Redemption – I am awed and terrified of him!
actually was needful things is kinda cool, i loved the way leeland gaunt handle the things, his a great devil
Desperation, Bag of Bones and Lisey’ s Story
It. Shining
I haven’t read a ton of his work, but I loved Misery. I enjoy his writing. However, the amount of typos I’m finding in Pet Sematary, is outrageous. I’m loving this book as well, but omg. These are things that should’ve been caught and fixed.
I also love the shining
The Stand, Misery, IT, and Needful Things are my favs though I love all of them.
11/22/63 – I could not put it down….epic read.
The Green Mile and 11/22/63. He’s one of my favorite authors!
So many but mayb the stand.
The girl who loves Tom Gordon.
Rose Madder. I’m not sure why but I thought it was great. Misery was awesome too.
