Does a thrift store count. It’s the added thrill of discovering an overlooked treasure and getting a book!

Thrift store gets MAJOR bonus points with me today!!! I have been looking for years for the chose your own adventure books could never figure out the names of them, an author nothing. I’d try to explain these books to the people of the library, book stores, amazon chat customer service. No results nothing, zip!!! Today I stopped at goodwill on a whim I never ever make time to stop especially when I’m doing all my weekly running. Well I did today and BAM ? ? I FOUND 14 books!! A total of 2 full series!!!! I am so so so so so so so so EXCITED!!!!! These were the very first type of books I read when I first started reading as a kid. So now my son (13) and I are going to dive into these books so I can show him what started my life long passion!!!!

Hey Michelle!!! How have you been friend??? I haven’t gotten anything that I know of???? I’ll ask the hubby in the morning, but I haven’t really been home in a while my mother in law fell so I have been at her house helping her till both her legs are healed!!!

MichelleQuestion author

Oh I’m sorry 🙁 I hope your mother in law gets better soon ! I sent Christmas card ..

Leslie

She fell down some steps, thought she was at the bottom and she wasn’t-messed up her right ankle and left knee. She is doing a lot better thank you so much for asking. I bet Leah opened it and taped it up around the doorway (where we put them to show them all off) over Christmas and never said anything. She has two pen pals across the county I wonder if she thought it was for her. I’m going to be asking some serious question in the morning!!! Little stinks!!! Thank you so so much for thinking of me and sending me a card. I’m gonna have to look in the Christmas box. I’m kinda disappointed right now!

Katrece Nelson
Now my son would literally fall head over heels for those!!! He and I’m not even joking read the duck dynasty cook book cover to cover-sat and copied down recipes. I’m going to have to look into this. Until today I had. O idea what the books were called genres nothing. I always try to find series so I have more than just a single book to read. When I picked up the books today I literally jumped up and down. Then I remembered the chose your own adventure deal (it was on the bottom of the cover) lol.

He never got into RL Stine (not for lack of trying on my part) he has started to get into things like shadow hunters, he loved the giver series. He has been reading more and more dystopian post apocalyptic books. Which is by far my all time favorite genre.

Swap meet??

0
Jossy

A selection of different people who offer different stuff to buy for relatively cheap. Being a car show it tends to mostly be car parts but every now and then you get books and magazines.

1
Leslie

Oh wow I’ve never been

0
Jossy

Highly recommend it if you get a chance. Markets and Caribbean Gardens here in Melbourne is great for it too.

Omg! Cars and books in the one place. This is the best ever!

0
MichelleQuestion author

We don’t either

0
MichelleQuestion author

But my Sams club is the exact same distance as yours

1
Leslie

@Michelle
I think I’ve been to ours 5 times in the last 3 years. Everything is so far away.

0
MichelleQuestion author

That’s hard when you really need something last minute

0
Leslie

@Michelle
Exactly. I started my own business (residential cleaning) so two of those trips were last minute didn’t have a choice in it had to go to sams for supplies

MichelleQuestion author

I’m trying to get another job

1
Leslie

@Michelle
What type of work?
I got so sick of working for everyone else and not making my own real money- I went into business for myself. No I’m a residential cleaner I make my hours, pick my clients upon interviews, it’s nice-the first month was hard-finding clients-getting steady pay-trying to organize how I was going to do everything. But it actually turned into a huge blessing and I love it. Which is absolutely surprising b/c I HATE cleaning my own house! But I think that’s b/c it’s always the same thing, and always messes everyone wants to be lazy about picking up after themselves lol

Really? I’ve never seen that! How do you find them? Does the filter let you refine it to that low of a price?

Brittany

I just pull up any book and at the bottom of the screenshot where it says new and used offers. The shipping is usually 3.99 but still a pretty good deal. I do it all the time and they’re usually in great condition!

No photo description available.

Sadly we have no where besides Wal-Mart and target that sell books besides book stores here and they both don’t have the greatest selections. I would say target if i had to pick one though.

Our local library has a constantly running used book sale. I’ve found so many gems there. Sometimes apparent brand new(looking) hardcovers. $1.00 for hardcovers .50 for paperbacks!

I’ve never bought from eBay do they have good deals on books @Kasey?

0
Kasey

Absolutely! Oftentimes if someone is done with a book and doesn’t want it anymore you can get a great deal on them. Libraries will sell their “old” books as well for very cheap as long as you don’t mind the jacket having the plastic on it. It comes off pretty easily. This, however, doesn’t give the author any sort of commission, if that matters to you.

Goodwill or the library’s book store. My library also holds used book sales twice a year and they sell books from 50 cents to 1.00. Then on the last day they hold it you can fill a bag for 1.00 and that’s how I get a lot of books.
