I read The Nightingale a couple of years ago and it was my number one book that year. Engrossing from the beginning, well written with characters and plot that affected me from beginning to end.

So far, it has to be, “The Nightingale.” I adored this book, and I still say, that this will be her masterpiece! It is incredible, and I could not stop thinking about it, after I finished reading it!

I have to admit that I thought she was a light-weight before Nightingale, but absolutely loved it and The Great Alone. Has she just come into her own or are the others as good too? Have to admit the covers and explanations of her older books turned me off before I read them!

I think Winter Garden is one of her best. It doesn’t get the hype some of the others get, but it’s a mesmerizing story.

Winter Garden. I don’t want to spoil it by sharing what happens but it’s the first book that I sobbed and sobbed to. My family thought I was nuts! My second runner up is Night Road. It’s an older one but I was enthralled until the last page. Hannah is my favorite author. I’ve read all her books. Nightingale was good but there are many more to enjoy. I just recieved her new one but as a full time student, mom, and volunteer, it probably won’t be read until spring break.

My kids laughed when they saw me crying as I was reading this book. Easily one of my all time favorites.

I’m so glad that I’m not the only one. There were parts of devastation and sheer survival that you could feel in your core while reading. I’ll never forget that book.

Connie

Winter Garden is my favorite book. I sobbed, too. It’s funny because I almost stopped reading it. It isn’t a genre that I’d normally read. I think it’s better than The Nightingale & I can’t understand why more people don’t talk about it. It’s a wonderfully told story.

Great question! I loved Firefly Lane because of the powerful friendship between two women coming of age around the same time that I did! The emotions were real and the characters were vivid and empathetic. I was in the story, rather than just reading it. Winter Garden was a fantastic historical fiction piece about mother daughter relationships and was another favorite. The first time I saw Kristin Hannah at an event was when she was promoting Home Front, and this story was contemporary and poignant, about women in the military and the relationship between mothers and daughters, and friendships. Night Road was my go to book when my kids were teenagers and facing so many of the issues depicted in the story. But as far as I am concerned her masterpiece, and my favorite was The Nightingale because I am the daughter in law of survivors, and this period of history is so important to me. I saw Kristin Hannah again when she was on tour with this this book, and this will always be the closest to my heart. I loved The Great Alone because it deals with so many issues…ptsd, domestic abuse, mother daughter relationships, Alaska, and a time period with which I can relate. So as you can see it is sooo hard to pick just one favorite but if I had to, it would be…..The Nightingale!

Nightingale…actually one of my all-time favorite books. Night Road because as a parent of 2 teens it really hit home. And Firefly Lane because it was first KH book and I just loved the lifelong friendship and her ability to encompass the span of most of a lifetime so succinctly in a few hundred pages.
