Have you read Cary Elwes book about the making of it? I *think* its called As You Wish. It’s so good.

0
Janet

Elwes book is fantastic! I was not a fan of the movie but my sons were. Think it was an age thing. But I loved Elwes book.

Ellie

Janet O’Donnell Love the original book, by Mortgenstern?, and the movie, but my best friend didnt like the movie, I was horrified lol

Stand By Me. I can not stand Stephen King, he would have to be my most hated author but I love that movie so I tried to read the book The Body. My opinion of King still stands but whoever adapted that book to screen needs a medal. Oh and the Wizard of Oz that captures a magic that just alludes the book.

LOTR, although Jackson lost all good favor with his execrable adaptation of The Hobbit.

Agreed!

0
Tami

Agreed, agreed! But LOTR was so beautifully filmed!! And what they had to leave out didnt ruin everything- I was lucky enough to visit New Zealand a few years ago- we didnt go specifically to any filming sites- but the whole COUNTRY is so beautiful that my SO demanded that I roll the car windows up- I just kept screaming and pointing “The Shire! The Shire!”

0
Carol

Lonesome Dove but that was a miniseries so they got to include much more detail that movies often do not and Richard Duvaul was the best Gus.

Laura

I agree! I reread the books then rewatch the series every few years.

Rereading the book now, my book group selection for July. So good! Plan on rewatching the series as well…

It spoiled me! Tried watching the two most recent Anne series — the PBS one with Martin Sheen and Anne with an E, but all I could think the whole time was “That’s not Anne.”

@Robin same! My daughter loves it, but I miss MY Anne Shirley. ? The new series is ridiculous. They modernized it and ruined it.
