Frank McCourt reading “Angela’s Ashes”, lovely Irish lilt and a bit of singing. Will Wheaton reading “Ready Player One”, perfect casting. Jim Dale reading all the Harry Potter books! I loved his Hagrid so much I was hesitant to see the movie because I couldn’t believe anyone could be as wonderful … of course, I was happily wrong.
Hi @Cayleigh and @Debra! May I know where you got your audio book copies of those!!! I would LOVE to have them! They’re 2 of my fave books from Gaiman!!!! ???
Oh, so many good ones mentioned! I really love The Martian, but it probably phenomenal. Just great to listen to in the car. I was totally there on mars…
I love audiobooks and have many favorites, several of which have already been mentioned. Let me add East of Eden read by Richard Poe. Perfect narration. I also recently listened to Wolf Hall and Bring up the Bodies. Both very enjoyable on audiobook. Dark humor really comes through. Also really liked News of the World.
Love audiobooks for travel, cleaning, etc, but have a hard time finding worthwhile or well-done ones. Should I stick with classics I never got to? Following…
For a novel: Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. The reader, Adjoa Andoh, was amazing, doing so many distinct accents. It was wonderful. For non-fiction: Not my Father’s Son by Alan Cummings and read by him. Absolutely eye-opening and heart-breaking.
Just finished Eleanor Oliphant is completely fine which I really liked on audio book. Also, loved The number one ladies detective agency series on audio book.
The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by Sherman Alexie, LaRose by Louise Erdrich, The Last Report on the Miracles at Little No Horse also by Louise Erdrich, Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel, A Woman in Charge by Carl Bernstein.

Oh and “You:A Novel” by Caroline Kapnes is really good. Made a stalker book almost humorous- like it is funny is a weird way but the guy that read it sounded like Tosh 2.0 so it was hilarious and creepy at the same time.

I think that’s the exact title? But Davis only wrote one autobiography, so that should narrow it down!
Haha- of course, you said autobiography! Thanks!
It’s a hell of a listen. Just remember that Miles Davis was a huge asshole in addition to being a genius.
Often goes hand in hand so no surprise!

Harry Potter. Jim Dale is the best narrator. I believe he is in the Guinness Book of Records for the most different voices in one recording.
I will have to check that out! Several people have mentioned Harry Potter.
So worth it! We listened before the movies were made, and some of the actors disappointed after Dale’s version!
Quite impressive! Thanks for the recommendation! ?

Philip Pullman’s ‘His Dark Materials’ with a full cast recording …
Hillary’s book.
Did she narrate it?
Yes. It’s very well done. I was with Bernie at first.. then with her.. but this book changed my perspective of her a ton. Humanized her in a way.
That is nice to hear. Thanks!
Really great to know!
