Don’t remember much but because I’m from non-english speaking country, i do remember the first english book i read long time ago. It was Sophie Kinsella’s Undomestic Goddess, and I cannot stop reading english books until now ?
I was about five, could read a little but very slowly. My older cousin would take me to the library with her, sit me down at the children’s table/chairs in the children’s room with books for me to look at and attempt to read. As I grew older I spent many, many days at the library, thanks to her. I do remember a book about trolls tho. Ha!
Cannot remember the title but it was about Saxons and Normans in Henry II’s England. I was in elementary school and it was my first non-picture book. Wish I could find out the title.
The first book I remember reading without help was the ordinary princess when I was about 6. Then I moved onto the secret seven and the famous five books by Enid Blyton and had read them all by the time I was 10
The dictionary lol My mum said that as soon as I started to learn to read, I would take the dictionary in to the toilet and go through it. The first book I remember reading was a book on ancient Rome. After that it was all the goosebumps books
They are old old books, but I’m not that old, & read it when. I was 5.5 to 6 years old. It really deends on if you grandparents, or parents bought these books from the school when they were getting rid of them. I bought a hard copy of a whole bunch of the little books in one big hard cover book. I bought it just a few years ago, & my granddaughter who will be 6 years old on May 25th will be reading it throughout summer vacation I’m sure.
Dunno… probably something by Dr Seuss. Now, the first book I recall? The one that changed my life forever and turned me into a voracious consumer of words on pages for life..? ‘Interview with the Vampire’ ??
