ARC does not only mean advanced reader copy. You need to contact your bank over this. In relationship to travel, it means Arline Reporting Corporation.
I definitely do NOT want to be ARC as while I love to read and read continually, I am not articulate in a review. I have occasionally left a review on Amazon and it is never very good – I am not good at description
If you’re curious how to obtain ARC’s it does vary from publisher to publisher, and even author to author. Those who get ARC’s are often being asked to (a) read it and leave an honest review on as many review platforms as possible and (b) NEVER to sell it or upload it online. For larger publishers, check out NetGalley, though keep in mind that NetGalley is a case-by-case basis. Some readers/reviewers get approved a lot, some it’s a shot in the dark. I’d also encourage you to follow smaller, indie publishers from the genres you like because many of them have blogger/arc lists that you can sign up for. Same goes for authors. Many authors are now “hybrid” publishing–meaning they do both traditional publishing and self publishing. Self publishing means they then have to promote everything themselves and need their own arc/reviewer/blogger list. Again–you don’t need to be a blogger, but by getting an ARC you are agreeing to review and possibly promote the book on release day. Hope that helps!
Advanced readers copy! It’s not edited (or not the final edit at least) and possibly may look different from the final product but shouldn’t change too much. It’s an awesome thing to get one!!
Thanks @KD for an excellent explanation about advanced reader copies. ARCs are not a means to a free book. They are part of a promotion plan set forth by the author and/or their publishing company and with that comes a responsibility to do what you are asked to do when you receive one and that is to read, and review in a timely fashion. ARCs are limited in number and receiving one and not following through with a timely review prevents someone else from doing so.
Another option to get ARC’s is through read/review groups on Goodreads. These are fantastic ways for readers to check out new authors, especially those who are self publishing or are with smaller publishers and the author has to do the bulk of the promotion. I’ve found some of my favorite authors through read/review groups on Goodreads.
Not stupid at all! It’s advance reader copy. It’s a copy of the novel before final publication and edits
How do you get on a list for that?? That’s so freaking awesome
@Tena you can apply to Netgallery and email publishing companies.

But taking money out my bank account?
@Garnette ARC’s are usually provided for free–I’d contact your bank to see what that payment was in reference too.
I have not agreeing to do any thing?
@KD Thank you I will.
You are agreeing to read and leave an honest review.
Tena, don’t feel bad! I just recently discovered the meaning a couple months ago. Lol!!

Advance readers copy or Advance review copy (I’ve heard it called both and it is for reviewers, so…)
No questions are ever stupid! I find that I use Google at least once a day! Usually, a lot more!
You are so right and I use Google A LOT.
No question is ever stupid! Learn something new every day!
Join your favorite authors street teams, usually on their Facebook.
